After Regulus' talk with McGongall, Dumbledore and Lily, he knew what he had to do. First he had to write a letter to Andromeda and plan something with her, before he talked to Sirius. He had to do this before the year ended and they returned home for the holidays. They had one more Hogsmeade trip and he was hoping this would work desperately.

Dear Andromeda,

I know I haven't written a letter to you since you left the family a couple of years ago. I'm sure Sirius has written to you over the years. I hope that you are well. I heard Ted and you had a baby girl. Congratulations!

Before I tell you the main reason I'm writing to you, I have some good news to share. I was moved up a year, so essentially I skipped my fourth year and just did my fifth year. It's the same as Sirius.

Other than that, I wanted to talk about my plans. I'm planning to join the Dark Lord and his cause. I know this sounds bad, and I assure you, it is. However, I intend to act as a double agent for the Order of the Phoenix, which I learned about through James Potter's parents.

This decision is not one I've taken lightly. I've talked to McGonagall as well as Dumbledore. I'm still trying to convince them but they think it is a good idea but that I should wait. I did tell them how the Dark Lord is not waiting and recruiting the junior Death Eaters already. I am also planning on getting Sirius out of the house this summer and I need your assistance. If you agree I will tell him or I have to try to plan something else.

In the meantime, I want to assure you that this isn't just about rebellion or defiance. It's about survival and strategy. The Dark Lord's influence is growing stronger by the day, and I need to position myself in a way that allows me to protect those I care about while also gathering the information necessary to undermine him from within. I know you have a deep understanding of the dangers and the intricacies of our world. Your experience and your position now make you a crucial ally in this endeavor.

Please let me know if you're willing to help. Your assistance could make all the difference, not just for Sirius but for the larger fight we all find ourselves in. I understand that this request is significant, but I hope you know that I wouldn't ask if it weren't absolutely necessary.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. Please take care, and give my regards to Ted and the baby.

With hope,

Regulus

 Andromeda's response:

Dear Regulus,

I was surprised and deeply moved to receive your letter after all this time. I hope you know that despite our estrangement, I still think of you and the rest of the family often.

Congratulations on advancing a year in your studies. I imagine it must have been quite an accomplishment. I'm glad to hear you're doing well academically despite the tumultuous times we find ourselves in.

Your decision to join the Dark Lord's cause—and your intention to act as a double agent—is indeed a bold and dangerous move. I can understand why you feel this is necessary, given the circumstances. However, I must stress how perilous this path is. I trust that you have considered the risks and the potential consequences thoroughly.

Regarding Sirius, I am both concerned and relieved that you're planning to get him out of the house. It's a dangerous place for him, and the thought of him being involved in this dark cause is troubling. I will do everything in my power to help. We'll need to be very careful with how we approach this to ensure his safety and minimize the risk of the plan being discovered.
