The world was dark when you opened your eyes again, your body sprawled out on the cold floor, though your mind still swam in confusion. The sensation of someone shaking your shoulder pulled you further into consciousness.
"Y/N! Y/N, wake up!" Shuri's voice was panicked, and her hands gripped your arm tightly, as if she feared the worst.
You groaned, your head pounding as if a hammer was pounding inside. Slowly, you blinked and tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness hit again, and you collapsed back down.
"Easy," Shuri said, her tone still edged with worry but softer now as she helped you lean against the lab table. "What the hell happened? One minute, you were standing here, and the next... you collapsed like a bag of vibranium."
You took a shaky breath, the room still spinning slightly. The memories of what you'd seen, what you'd felt, flooded back into your mind: Charles Xavier, his words echoing in your head like a whisper in a canyon. But there was something else, something more than just his presence.
"I... saw someone," you mumbled, feeling the weight of Shuri's gaze on you as you tried to explain. "I don't know how, but... there was this man. He called himself Charles Xavier. He said he wasn't really here, just in my mind."
Shuri's brow furrowed, her curiosity mixing with concern. "Charles Xavier?" She crossed her arms, tapping her chin. "You're sure it wasn't just... a hallucination or dream?"
You shook your head slowly, even though your own certainty wavered. "I asked that? But he said it was more complicated than that. He said he'd been trying to reach me for a long time. He knew I was lost in the desert, Shuri. I don't know how, but... he knew."
Shuri didn't speak right away, but her eyes searched yours, seemingly trying to probe the truth from your soul. After a long silence, she let out a slow breath, shaking her head.
"We've seen strange things before, but this is... on a different level. If it was real, then that means he has some kind of... telepathic connection?" Her fingers tapped lightly against her arm, her mind clearly racing with possibilities.
You snapped your fingers and pointed, just as the word came to your mind. "SI! YES! He mentioned he was telepathic."
she said with determination. "But for now, we need to get you back on your feet. Whatever's happening, it's messing with you physically too."
With her help, you managed to stand again. Your legs felt like spaghetti, The exhaustion weighed heavily on your shoulders, as if you'd been through a battle, though all you'd done was... see a man in your head.
"How do you feel?" Shuri asked, her voice softer now, concern outweighing curiosity.
"Like I overdosed on kids vitamins..." you muttered, rubbing your forehead. "I think I'll be fine though."
"You better," she replied, her tone half-joking but with a sincerity behind it that made you smile.
For the next few hours, Shuri didn't press you for any more details, instead letting you rest and recover from the strange experience. But the unspoken tension between you lingered, as though both of you were waiting for something else to happen, another shoe to drop.

Days passed, and while the physical exhaustion faded, the mental weight of that encounter with Xavier clung to you. Lived rent free inside your mind.
His words echoed in your thoughts constantly, disrupting your sleep and making you feel like there was something important that you were missing. Every time you closed your eyes, you half-expected to see him again, but nothing happened, only darkness, or the occasional weird dream.
