It was the next morning, and Danny's arms were still wrapped around Kyra's body. She turned, subconsciously burying her face in his chest.
Danny soon woke up, his face flustered as he realized they were cuddling.
Kyra hadn't awoke yet, not being aware of their position.
He tried to get up off her but then felt her wrap her arms around him. He really couldn't get out of this one. He had to wake her up so he wouldn't be late for school.
Danny: "Oh, Kyra... wake up, little fox..."
He said as he nudged her gently, not wanting to hurt her.
He watched as she stirred, seeing her eyes flutter open.
As Kyra realized the situation, she pulled away awkwardly, blushing.
Danny: "Someone's clingy," He teased as he got up, being in his normal form. He wondered; did she go to his school?
Danny: "Hey, what school do you go to?"
Kyra: "Oh, um... I go to Casper High. Do you?"
Danny's face lit up, but he contained his excitement.
Danny: "Me too!"
Kyra: "Oh, neat!"
Danny then noticed she had her own backpack, not having noticed it on her before. It was on the floor next to his.
He pulled his backpack over his shoulders, waiting for Kyra to do the same. She got out of his bed, putting her backpack on as well.
Then, they rushed out the door with only a few minutes to spare. They got to the bus on time, thankfully. They sat next to each other as they walked through the walkway, the both of them blushing after remembering that they cuddled last night. His friends Tucker and Sam, who she hadn't met yet, sat right next to the two lovebirds.
Sam got jealous as he saw Danny with another girl. She always seemed to have a thing for him, but she contained her anger as she asked Danny who she was.
Sam: "Who's the new girl?"
Danny: "Oh, her? She's Kyra! She's my new best friend. She's a part of our friend group now! Isn't that great?"
Sam: "Oh yeah, so great."
She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. He tilted his head in confusion by this behavior.
Danny: "Are you okay, Sam?"
She didn't respond, but he shrugged it off as he turned back to Kyra.
Danny: "So, I'm guessing from what Sam said, but... are you new here?"
Kyra: "Oh, of course. I recently moved here from my de- I mean, home."
He raised an eyebrow but didn't question it.
As they rode on the bus together, Kyra expected everyone to stare at her, but... they didn't. They were all on their phones and paid absolutely no mind to her at all. She sighed in relief, finally feeling like a normal person for once in her life. And the one that helped her to see that was Danny, who she'd grown quite fond of. She developed an overwhelming crush on him, but she didn't know how to tell him.
DANNY'S POV:
I haven't told Kyra yet, but I think I'm starting to have a crush on her. She's somewhat like me, she's caring, and I can actually talk to a cute girl without messing it up! I don't know why, though. I just have this... special connection with her somehow, it's like she was what was missing in my life all along. I didn't want to tell her yet since we just met a day ago because that'd be way too soon.
END OF POV
The bus soon stopped at Casper High. Danny and Kyra were the first ones to get off the bus. As they walked with each other, Sam gave her a glare.
Tucker: "Someone's jealous."
Sam: "Shut it."
She said, an obvious hint of jealousy in her voice.
Timeskip
Danny and Kyra were in Mr. Lancers class, not really paying attention to what he was teaching. Kyra just sketched the whole time, but she looked up and nodded her head occasionally to act like she was listening.
Danny just simply spaced out a few times, almost falling asleep.
Mr. Lancer: "Can you two pay attention?"
He said with a snarl, looking at them angrily.
Kyra: "I am! I'm just multi-tasking..."
Danny: "Uhh, I'm totally paying attention, Mr. L!"
Danny always had bad grades, and Kyra always had good grades. Sometimes, she slacked off, so she did get a few F's before. But it wasn't enough for her to fail completely.
He gave them a look before going back to teaching, Danny sighing in relief. He usually got in trouble, and he really didn't wanna have to deal with it today. Especially not around Kyra.
Timeskip again
It was the end of the day, and unfortunately for Danny, he sensed danger. He couldn't just transform in front of everyone, though. They'd either be scared, laughing, or gossiping. And he didn't want any of that to happen. Kyra, however, was used to it happening.
As he went into ghost mode, he immediately went invisible. Not even Kyra noticed, wondering where he went. But somehow, she could see him even when he wasn't visible.
Kyra: "Danny?"
She whispered, having a feeling he was in ghost mode as she turned to him.
Danny: "I'm sorry, but I have to go, danger calls. I'll be back though, wish I could take you with me."
He whispered back as he then phased out of the bus, going to fight more ghosts. Kyra sighed, immediately feeling lonely after he left.
It was like she had some attachment issues, which we'll get into later.
