It was the last day that Kyra had to stay in the hospital, and Danny had to wait in the waiting room again. After a while, he saw Kyra coming out of the room she was in, following her as she headed to fill out her discharge papers. Then, someone had to pay for the bill, so Danny, with the only money he had, decided to pay it.

Kyra: "But Danny-"

Danny: "No, I insist. I'm the one who brought you here, after all. You shouldn't have to pay for anything."

She smiled at him, letting him pay. He thankfully had enough to pay it off, and it was pretty expensive, to say the least.

They both then left the hospital after everything was settled.

Kyra: "What you did back there... thanks... You really didn't have to do that for me."

Danny: "Are you nuts? Of course I did! I couldn't just let you pay! You needed treatment, and you shouldn't have to pay for that as long as I'm around."

Kyra rolled her eyes playfully, letting it go.

Kyra: "Alright, fine. But next time, let me pay, okay?"

Danny: "No promises."

They laughed, but then suddenly, the temperature around them dropped, a cold gust swirling around. A whispering voice filled their ears, sending chills down their spines.

?: "Danny Phantom... Kyra... I can smell your fears."

They both leaped to their feet, instantly alert. Before them, the figure of Dreadwraith materialized from the shadows, a spectral form barely visible against the night sky.

His eyes glowed a deep crimson, and his body seemed to be made of the very darkness itself.

Kyra stepped forward, her fox tail twitching nervously behind her.

Kyra: "What do you want with us?"

Dreadwraith's grin widened as he floated closer, his voice like nails on a chalkboard.

Dreadwraith: "You, my dear, hold fear deep within you... so much to give... and so do you, Phantom. Such delicious insecurities, buried beneath all that confidence and bravado. You both carry your pain like weights, and I... I will feast on it."

Before they could react, Dreadwraith's shadowy form rushed at them. Kyra's instincts kicked in, and she leaped back, but it was too late. Tendrils of shadow latched onto her, wrapping tightly around her body.

She screamed as her vision filled with memories, images of the lab, images of the incubation chambers, and scientists' hands reaching for her.

She could feel Dreadwraith inside her mind, his presence slithering through her thoughts like a viper.

Kyra: "No!"

She cried, struggling. Her limbs felt heavy as if her strength was draining from her.

Danny, too, was ensnared by the ghost's power. The shadows wrapped around his body, digging deep into his ghost core. Dreadwraith's voice echoed inside his mind, reminding him of his fears of losing his humanity, of becoming a monster that no one could trust.

Danny, too, felt his ghost form flickering, his energy draining at an alarming rate. He struggled to phase out of the shadowy tendrils, but they were too strong.

The more he fought, the more Dreadwraith's hold tightened around him.

Dreadwraith: "You can't fight this,"

Dreadwraith hissed, his form growing larger as he absorbed their energy.

Dreadwraith: "All those fears... they've made you weak."

They felt themselves slipping away, but Kyra knew what she had to do.

Kyra: "N-No... I-I... I won't let you hurt us!"

She said as she faced her fears, which seemed to weaken him a bit. Not enough for them to be set free, but just enough for Kyra to gain some of her strength back.

Kyra: "Danny! Come on, you can do it! Just face your fears!"

Danny: "I-I can't! He's too strong-"

Kyra: "You have to try! We can do this!"

Kyra encouraged him but wasn't quite sure if it'd work. Then, Kyra watched as he collapsed to the floor, being drained completely and left weak and helpless.

Something snapped inside of her, her eye twitching as she got angrier. The more she faced her fear, the closer she was to getting her powers back.

Dreadwraith: "No! This isn't how it's supposed to go! You're supposed to be afraid!"

Kyra: "BE AFRAID OF THIS, YOU LOATHSOME BEAST!"

She said, gaining all her strength and power back, punching him in the gut hard as she started to claw and bite him ferociously.

Danny got his powers back, too, then slowly came back to life as he got up.

He saw Kyra fighting Dreadwraith as soon after she felt a hand on her shoulder.

She turned only to see... Danny? But he collapsed! She thought.

Danny: "Kyra, it's okay, I'm pretty sure he's defeated now."

Kyra looked at Dreadwraith again, then turned back to Danny with a slight blush on her face.

Kyra: "I couldn't help myself, I-I- he hurt you, and I couldn't l-let him I-"

She then felt his finger touch her lips, helping her stand up and seeing her flustered face.

Danny: "You're not a freak, and neither am I. We're just... different, like you said when we first met."

Kyra smiled, grabbing onto her arm, a bashful expression on her face.

Then suddenly, Danny stepped forward, their faces being so close they could practically kiss.

Danny: "Can I...?"

Kyra blushed, knowing what he meant.

She nodded hesitantly, not really knowing how to respond.

She then felt his plush lips against hers, melting into the kiss as he deepened it.

He licked at her bottom lip for permission to make the moment between them more passionate, and she allowed it as she opened her mouth as he slid his tongue through it.

They eventually pulled away as they kissed for a bit, the both of them a flustered, panting mess.

Danny: "Let's go home,"

He said, grabbing her hand gently and intertwining her fingers with his own as he went ghost and took her to his house so they could both rest.
