Sans ran as hard as he could, ignoring the immense pain in his eye socket that just seemed to keep building. Everything was a blur and Sans stumbled over various rocks trying hard not to completely fall over or drop Papyrus. Running through dark, wet caves and splashing through puddles made the young skeletons cold and wet. When the scenery went from wet and dark to shiny and white both of them were shivering. Sans knew he couldn't go much further as he felt the world spin around him.
"SANS, I'M COLDDD." Papyrus whined pushing in closer to his brother to try and find more warmth
"i know paps...'m going to find somewhere...to hide 'n rest." Sans replied through heavy breaths, holding Papyrus tight while trying to look through the falling snow and spinning vision.
Everything was blurry but squinting, he could just make out the faint glow of light ahead. Sans stumbled towards the light, trying to keep his balance. The snow beneath his bare feet was painfully cold. When he got there he could hazily make out the shape of buildings and noticed that there didn't seem to be anyone around. It was dark outside; back in the labs when the lights turned off and everything became dark it meant it was nighttime. Sans headed to a dark spot next to a building with a big glowing sign that was too fuzzy to read.
"here paps," Sans said, heading towards the wall going behind what appeared to be some trash cans, "we can rest here for the night..."
"BUT I'M STILL COLD AND I'M HUNGRY!" Papyrus retorted grumpily.
"sorry, i can't do...anything about that." Sans set Papyrus down. "you'll have to...woah-"
Sans swayed to the side as he was hit by a wave of dizziness. He hit a nearby trash can with a loud crash causing his skull to burst with new pain. He fell into the snow and could hear Papyrus yelling something but it sounded far off. He soon gave into the darkness creeping into his vision.
"SANS! SANS! ANSWER ME! ARE YOU OKAY??" Papyrus yelled, running over and shaking Sans.
A thump from inside the building made Papyrus jump and he grabbed Sans to pull him back to hide behind the trash cans that were still upright. A door opened nearby and a tall monster who appeared to be on fire peaked their head outside, immediately noticing the trash can on the ground.
"Hello? Is anyone out there?" The tall fire monster asked out into the alley.
The fire monster listened for anything and soon could pick up some soft sobbing sounds. He stepped out of the building and looked to where the sound was coming from
"Oh, Is someone hurt?" The fire monster asked. "Can you please come out here, I'm not going to harm you."
There was no answer other than more sobbing but eventually he could hear the faint sound of something rattling. Becoming worried he stepped towards the sounds and looked around the trash cans.
He was surprised to find two small skeletons up against the wall. The bigger one appeared unconscious with a dark streak of red going down his face from a cracked eye socket. The smaller one was staring at him with a terrified expression, tears running down his face.
"O-Oh! Oh no are you two ok? Do you need some help?" The fire monster asked softly trying to not scare the kid anymore than he already was.
"M-My brother won't wake up. H-He just fell over and won't answer me." Papyrus answered through his tears.
"Let me help you then. My name is Grillby and this is my home. Please, come inside so I can take a closer look." Grillby said, taking a step closer, wondering how two children ended up like this.
"Oh Okay. Umm...H-HI MR. GRILLBY. MY NAME IS PAPYRUS AND THIS IS MY BROTHER, SANS"
"Hello, Papyrus. Please, let me carry your brother inside."
