Edward's POV

I watched Catherine from across the room, and yet again, amidst the highest nobleman and royalty present, she still commanded attention, gracefully and poetically, yet so distantly that no one dared touch her. Something about her was indescribable; I just could not take my eyes off her. I was supposed to listen to a lecture, but all my attention kept falling back on her.

Catherine Walker, Princess of Narva. For years, her name had been a whispered one in the darkness, her life veiled behind palace walls. And here she was now, standing before us all, not some rumour, but a force. They said her magic was beyond what most could fathom, and yet, there was still something about her that pulled at me.

Our eyes had met across the room for one brief second. But that one second was long enough for me to turn away hastily, hoping she hadn't caught me staring. This magnetism that was gradually pulling me to her, I didn't know for what reason, grew stronger. The fascination with her was becoming impossible to overlook the longer I was around her.

"Edward!"

Lilibet's sharp voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I blinked, realizing I had completely tuned out the training session. We were in the Hall of Magic now, preparing for the next exercise, but my mind had been elsewhere. Again. Lilibet's eyes were on me, her brows raised in a look of disapproval.

"You need to focus. We're not here to daydream," she said.

I nodded, wrenching myself back to the present. Training was important; Owen had imparted that particular gem clearly enough. I knew better than to let my mind start wandering. But every time that Catherine came near, my thoughts seemed to have a life of their own, focusing on her no matter how hard I tried to prevent it.
I glanced at her again, and this time, she was entirely absorbed in the work that lay before her. I attempted to take a cue from her example, zeroing my attention in on the complex spellwork set before us by Lady Owen. Instantly, my magic responded, the signature heat of it coursing through my hands as I directed the energy correctly. But below it all, that insistent tug toward Catherine was still present. Quiet, but tenacious.
As the session wore on, I bowed my head and focused on what lay before me, but behind my mind, the questions wouldn't let go. What was it about her that got to me so insidiously? And why couldn't I shift this feeling in me that somehow our paths were connected? I wasn't ready for the answers quite yet, and I wasn't sure I wanted to find them.

After the class was over and everyone present was worn out, Arabella took to the center of the hall.
"hmm, hmm", clearing her throat and grinning unexpectedly
I am planning on throwing a Tea party tomorrow, and l would like to invite all of you, l mean just the ladies", she said smiling, as she gave every lady the invitation card to her party.
"See you all tomorrow and Catherine, bye!!!". She then said running out of the Hall in a rush.

Catherine's Pov. I have never really been to a Tea party, except, of course, for the ones my Mother throws for the ladies in council. I looked at the invitation card; it looked simple yet classy.  "Nice",  l thought. Honestly speaking, I'm beginning to doubt whether I am going. I have never really been to a tea party; I have countless numbers of invitations that I have never attended. I don't feel really bothered about going, but then again, remember that it's the fact that l have to be acquainted with everyone and not necessarily close with them; l guess l have to make it a day, then. I think I'm just going to wear a simple grown with a sunflower, making me look simple and demure as always, l thought as l exited the Hall of Magic.
