Lloyd dragged me inside the ship and to one of the rooms that had sliding bamboo doors, decorated in a drawing of some sort of legend. The smell of incense hit me hard when he opened the door. His sensei was meditating.
The teacher stood unmoving while his student stood restless.
Lloyd sat in front of him and started to "meditate" as well. I decided to stay at the door. I didn't want to be rude.
After a while, Lloyd began to open one of his eyes over and over again to check if his sensei was still focusing on his own mindfulness.
"*cough*..."
No answer.
"*cough*."
How does one make a cough sound so serious...?
"Yes, Lloyd?"
"Uhm, I'm sorry to disturb you, uncle, but I wanted to introduce you to someone."
"Oh. And who might you be, young one?"
"I'm [Name]. [Full name].", I smiled nervously.
"So... [Name] here, they died and then fell from the sky so I was wondering if you had any information on that, sensei...?"
"Hm... Let me see... I think I read of something like that a while ago..."
Wu started to open cupboards and rummage through papers left and right. Some scrolls rolled onto the ground. They had beautiful covers and containers.
He looked for a bit more and then stopped, looking at a specific one to make sure he got what he was searching for.
"Come, sit.", Wu ushered me in a gentle tone. I sat next to the blonde, in front of Sir Wu.
"This scroll is quite the ancient one. I might say it was made alongside the one that predicted your addition to the team, Lloyd..."
"What does it say?", Lloyd asked.
"I cannot share much with you two... But. Young [Name] here is meant to find a purpose here, surrounded by the Ninja... As for everything else that is written, you will discover in due time."
"That's a bit...vague?", I frowned, brows furrowed. I expected that but I still had those small false hopes.
"He tends to do that. It'll be fine.", the blonde gave me reassurance, whispering.
"Hm... I always thought it was a faux prophecy, I never would've guessed it would come true...! Quanish has never been right but this might be his chance to redeem himself beyond the grave, that old fool...", Wu said.
"So... What does that mean for future me? Am I staying here permanently...? Or can I leave when I find a proper job...?"
"Wow, eager to leave, I see. You hate us that much?", Lloyd asked. I nearly thought he was actually upset.
