Raven’s Perspective

The sharp pain of someone yanking me by the hair out of bed snaps me from my half-sleep. Disgusted stares burn into me as I crash onto the cold stone floor. The chill seeps into my limbs, while the hostile voices of the others echo in the small room.

Despite being the daughter of the Alpha pair, I can't escape the daily torment and rejection from the other pack members. In this barren bedroom, surrounded by coldness and the sickening sensation of contempt, I dream of a world beyond this torture—of a place where my abilities are recognized and my true potential could be unleashed.

Suddenly, a determined knock breaks the tense silence. Before I can even fully sit up, the door swings open, and Althea steps inside. In her human form, she appears like a beam of light piercing the darkness, her eyes glinting with resolve and compassion.

“Enough!” Althea’s voice rings out firmly. Her authority and strength are undeniable, and the pack members, intimidated by her presence, retreat with growls. Althea kneels beside me, gently placing her hand on my shoulder. The comforting gesture brings a warmth I haven’t felt in a long time, a sense of safety.

As the other pack members leave the room, Althea stays by my side. Her calming presence is a small beacon in the gloom, offering a moment of solace—a reminder that, despite everything, I am not completely alone.

Althea helps me sit up, her hands resting comfortingly on my shoulders. For a moment, neither of us speaks. The air is thick with unspoken words and shared pain. But Althea’s eyes tell me everything; they are filled with determination and empathy, never letting me forget that she is here to protect me.

“Raven, this…” Her voice is quiet but firm. She pauses, and I can see the pain in her eyes. “You don’t have to endure this any longer.”

Her words hit me. How many times have I buried that thought myself? The darkness of the past few years has suffocated me until I forgot who I was. I feel Althea’s hand on my shoulder, her touch warm, like a gentle fire in the night.

“You’re stronger than you think.”

I close my eyes. These are the words I’ve never heard before. Does she really believe that I can fight back? That I have the strength to escape this nightmare?

I look at her, and despite all the shame and fear that usually paralyze me, something else stirs inside—a quiet, but indomitable spark of defiance. Althea is right—deep down, I know I have the strength to stand up for myself. But after years of suppression, it’s hard to believe.

“How?” I whisper finally, my voice shaky with doubt. “How can I stand against them?”

Althea pulls me gently into an embrace, her warmth melting the cold inside me. “We’ll find a way,” she says, her voice filled with a determination that both comforts and challenges me. “But you must start believing in yourself. You may not have the powers they do, but you possess something they don’t—courage, determination, and a heart stronger than any raw force.”

Her words are a balm to my wounds, but they also ignite something new in me—the desire to no longer be the victim. Maybe I do have the inner strength to free myself. And maybe it’s time I find out what I’m truly capable of.

Althea pulls back, her expression serious. “It won’t be easy, but you won’t be alone. We’ll do this together, Raven. You’re stronger than you think, and I’ll help you realize that.” I nod slowly, the fear in me giving way to a knot of determination in my chest. For the first time in a long while, I don’t feel completely helpless. With Althea by my side, there’s a chance I can escape this nightmare—and maybe even take control of my own destiny.
