Raven's Perspective

When I open my eyes again, exhaustion weighs heavily on me. The purple glow, the energy—everything has vanished. I’m lying on a chair, my body feeling weak and drained, as if every fiber of my existence has been siphoned away by an invisible force. Cassian is sitting next to me, his face tense, hands buried in his hair. The room around us is silent, and I can hear the quiet ticking of a clock, as if time is slipping away from me.

“Raven...” he whispers as he sees that I’m awake. His eyes reflect concern, but also confusion and pain, as if he’s trapped in a dark labyrinth of his own thoughts. Lady Elara stands a few steps away, her presence like a shadow in this moment of uncertainty. I can feel the tension in the air, an invisible bond swinging between the three of us.

“Why…” Cassian begins, his voice trembling slightly. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

He looks at me, and this time I recognize something different in his gaze. Not anger, but something deeper—a realization he has been trying to suppress. I see him working through the last few weeks in his mind: the argument, the distance we’ve created between us. It’s as if I can read the thoughts in his eyes, the questions that torment him.

“You shut me out, Cassian.” My voice is weak, but I have to say it. “You withdrew from me, and after our fight...” I swallow hard and force myself to continue. “I thought you didn’t want anything to do with me anymore. How could I tell you about my powers then?”

Cassian closes his eyes for a moment and takes a deep breath. He looks pained, as if realizing how much he has pushed me away in the past weeks. “Raven…” he says quietly, his voice almost breaking. “That was not my intention. I was…” He pauses, struggling with his words, as if they are a burden he can’t let go of. “I have my own demons, but I shouldn’t have pushed you away.”

His words hit me deeply, and for a moment, the silence between us is almost unbearable. The atmosphere is thick with unspoken emotions, and I feel a knot loosening within me as we gaze into each other's eyes. I remember the beautiful moments we had and the disappointment that weighed on our relationship.

“It’s not your fault,” I finally say, trying to show him that I understand. “We both drifted apart, and I thought you wouldn’t understand me... or worse, fear me.”

He looks at me, and I see the regret in his eyes, rolling over us like a wave. “Raven, I should have been there for you. I don’t know what’s been going on with me in the last few weeks, but… that doesn’t change the fact that I need you. You matter to me. You always have.”

The words hit me hard, and I feel a weight lift off me that I didn’t even know I was carrying. A part of me had always feared that he no longer wanted me, that I had lost him because of my powers or our distance. Memories flash within me: the days we shared, the laughter, the quiet moments before everything became complicated.

“You need me?” I ask softly, almost in disbelief. The question hangs in the air, and I can feel the intensity of the moment. A part of me can’t believe that we’re here, that we are in this situation.

Cassian nods slowly, and his voice is filled with remorse. “Yes. And I was the one who failed when you needed me.”

For a moment, I don’t know what to say. The silence between us is different this time—not uncomfortable, but like an unspoken peace. Elara observes us from a distance, her expression neutral, but in her eyes, I catch a glimpse of understanding, as if she has witnessed these moments between us many times before.

Then, without another word, Cassian leans down toward me. His closeness is both comforting and thrilling. He gently lifts a hand and brushes a strand of hair from my face, his fingers lingering on my cheek. His touch is warm, and suddenly there are no more doubts, no more fears about what remains unspoken.
