After what went down over the summer Jace, Rory, and the others came back to Chicago. They took Rory to an orphanage for special kids with powers where he attended Chicago Elementary School for super-humans (E.S.S.)
Jace, Lola, and Jenny went back to school. Things seem the same at first but a lot changed since they were gone.
One Eye Bill went into hiding after being accused of many crimes and the disappearance of his son. But his crew is still out roaming.
Now that Lola finally got a job as a jr. reporter for the daily Chicago Journal, one of the biggest news sources of the city as for now.
Jenny is top of her class and is known as one of the smartest girls in the school.
Jace nothing at home changes for him he is still full of anger every time he comes to the city knowing how dark the crime is especially what happened to his parents. But Jace has gotten stronger, faster, and smarter he can use his powers like never before and has full control.
Jace also still visits Rory when he gets the chance and Jace is the only one who has a direct communication link with Zara due to his powers connection to her.
It is October the 13th three days before Jace birthday. At the lunch table, Jace is joined by Lola and Jenny.
Lola: hey Jace we been through a lot together and I was-
Jace: what do you want Lola
Lola: well I was wondering if I could plan your birthday party
Jace: you told her
Jenny: Yep you have to celebrate your birthday your turning 17
Jace: so to me, it's just another day
Lola: You no fun you know that
Jace: do whatever you want I don't care
Lola stands at the lunch table and screams at the top of her lungs
Lola: JACE HAVING A BIRTHDAY COSTUME PARTY AT MY HOUSE ON THE 16th AT 6 pm ALL IS WELCOME AND BRING SNACKS NO DRUGS THE ADDY WILL BE POSTED ON MY PAGE
Jace: wow really
Lola: you said do whatever plus you'll have fun and Jenny will make sure
Jenny: and we also have a special surprise for you Jace
Jace: what is it
Jenny: nope gotta wait till your b-day
Jace: I hate you guys
Lola: we love you too
Jace: hey Lola can I talk to you alone
Lola: sure
Jenny: ok ill leave you alone I'm finna go help Ms. Burge take down homecoming posters
Lola: so have you healed all the way
Jace: yeah but he left one scar across my chest it healed but the mark is still there
Jace: but that's not what I wanted I need to ask you something
Lola: is it about what I said when you were injured bad
Jace: yeah, did you mean it
Lola: You my friend of course I meant it
Jace: sorry I scared you but I wanna ask you something
Lola: don't save it
Jace: huh
Lola: save it for another time the night of your birthday tell me then

Lola: just trust me
