I MANAGE TO pull the blonde haired girl onto the parapet, with a grunt of pain and exhaustion. My breath feverishly coming out in pants as I try to regain air into my lungs. Shit, I can't believe I just did that!

"Thank you," the girl gasps out as she slowly stands up on the stone bridge, I myself doing the same, although trembling a bit after my reckless move to save her.

"Don't thank me yet, we still haven't made it across," I reply frightfully all manner of confidence and adrenaline gone as I try and slow down my rapidly beating heart. I quickly glance behind me to check if the brute male was still advancing and getting too close to us — sure enough, he was way too close for my liking.

"...I think the guy behind us is out kill us so if you could please start walking now, that would be great!" I shout to the blonde as I turn back to her. Her eyes widen, locked in on the man behind me before nodding swiftly and quickly taking large steps, almost at a jogging pace towards the Rider's Quadrant. I do the same, following her at a pace until I am about two meters away from making it.

"I'm coming to get you next, Riorson!" He roars. How the fuck does he know my name? He must have heard me introduce myself before walking the parapet, I conclude. I knew people would come after me because of my family name but gods my luck was seriously at an all time low today. Panicked I look back to see him coming for me, his large strides eating the distance between us with horrifying speed. I jerk my head back to the front, panicking now as my pace accelerates over the cobbled stones of the bridge. My movements are too uncoordinated as fear overcomes me, and my heart jolts in my chest when a stone beneath my toes wobbles loose.

Fuck. Breathe, Estelle dammit!

Inhaling through my nose, I allow myself to look towards the blonde haired girl and a small amount of relief fills me when I see her step off the parapet ahead of me, but my own fight for survival is far from over as the sun still beats down on my shoulders from above, sweat seeping into my tight black clothes. She turns towards me, eyes widening when she notices the male gaining on me from behind.

Damn my short legs.

"There's no way someone as tiny as you passed the entrance exam." He mocks me, his voice closer than before. As a response I try to ignore him to the best of my ability and focus in on the stone building nearing me.
