chapter 10: 'back to the shit show'

IT'S BEEN WEEKS since I've been home. I'm not going to say I don't miss it because I do but it thought it would be nice to get away from a shit show that is happening in Mystic Falls.
Well...I thought it was.
There is an even bigger shit show happening in New Orleans with witches wanting to kill me and all but I'm sure that is the least of my problems...
Especially when I walk into the Salvatore house seeing Damon pinning Katherine to the wall by her neck.
But what I'm more shocked at is that Katherine looks bewildered while staring back at his tall frame which is towering over her in a menacing stance.
"Well I see nothing has changed here..." I say making my presence known.
They both snap their heads towards me looking shocked. Damon releases her instantly and his gaze softens instantly.
He lets a relieved sigh as he walks towards me and gives me a hard hug that knocks a breath out of me as I stagger back a few feet.
"Nice to see you missed me, Dames." I say chuckling.
I take a peek over Damons shoulder and make eye contact with Katherine to see her smiling like...she's happy to see me? It suddenly hits me... she is out of the tomb? And she clearly sees the expression on my face from the realisation and her face drops her demeanour looking like the Katherine we all know and loath.
I realise what she's doing as I study her outfit which she clearly stole from Elena's closet and I smile and shake my head like she's being ridiculous fooling Damon into thinking she is Elena. She winks as me as she pushes herself off of the wall, she was up against just moments ago in Damons grip.
"Of course I missed you, mama." he pulls back a winks at me smirking "These children have been driving me nuts and don't even get me started on Elena's antics recently, with sacrificing herself and all." He shoots a snarky look over his shoulder to who he thinks is 'Elena'.
Stefan unexpectedly walks around the corner looking around at everyone.
He looks confused but smiles his soft smile at me "Maddie, you're back."
