The group marched onward, following the compass.

"Something's happening.." Dustin comments as the compass begins to act up.

"Dustin..? Can you slow down? Dustin?" Eddie calls out, only to be ignored as he increases his speed.

"I think we're getting close." Dustin turns back to tell them, his excitement growing as he begins to suspects he was right.

"Watch your step, big guy." Eddie stops Dustin from following into the water, Steve looking around at the open water.

"Oh, man. You gotta be shitting me."

"Yeah. I thought these woods were familiar." Eddie exhales.

"Lover's Lake. Convenient we might find Eddie's gir-" Robin stops herself from speaking further.

"Oh, she made a portrait of you, dude! And don't think we don't know about the mixtapes! You too are so a thing!" She counters his look, his mouth falling open.

"This is confounding." Eddie and Robin stare at each other in a face other, slowly turning their attention to the others.

"Whenever the Demogorgon attacked, it always left an opening. Maybe Vecna's the same way." Nancy mentions.

"Yeah, only one way to find out." The group gets a boat, the older of the bunch going on the boat and leaving the younger ones behind. Dustin not happy about the arrangement, especially as Steve tricks him.

They row out onto the lake, the compass suddenly going haywire. Nancy has the boat stop, the bunch of them huddling around the compass as it continues to spaz out. The kids on shore notice, watching them from afar with binoculars.

"Uh, Dustin, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital ahhahhh." Robin comes in over the walkie, informing the younger teens. Steve begins to undress, going to make his way into the water. Eddie wraps up a flashlight, keeping it waterproof from him to see.

"Hey- Good luck." Eddie offers, Nancy then stopping him as well to offer her peace. Steve jumps into the water, diving down in search for the gate that may or may not even be there. He searches for a while, soon seeing the red in the distance. He goes towards it.

Meanwhile the young teens noticed the police, realizing they'd have to do something. Max grows bold, leading the cops away from the wanted fugitive that was out on the lake with the others.

Steve resurfaces, informing the others of his finds. Suddenly he feels a pull, something physically grabbing him. This scares him, and alarms the others. He thought he was safe, only to be pulled down, steadily being dragged by the vines leaching from the gate. The others freak at this, making the decision to follow after, some reluctant but, follows nonetheless.

Steve regains himself, looking around the upside down he was brought too cautiously. The chittering and vibrating of the creatures lurking loud and prominent. He slowly picks himself up, the sky thundering red. Suddenly there was a roar in the distance, turning back in alarm as he sees the bat creatures flying at him.

The shrieking continues, turning hastily to find a weapon as he knew he had no choice but to fight. He gets one, quickly getting attacked from all sides by the flying demon bats. He was knocked onto his back, a bat getting him by the throat as others began to try and restrain him. They pounced on him, attacking him, sinking their dirty little fangs into him mercilessly.

Nancy gets the drop on one of the creatures, sending it flying to rescue her ex.

"Hey there.. Quick! Hold it, Robin!" Nancy and Robin fight off the bats holding down Steve,
