Once they return, Conrad quickly runs past Katherine into the room he's staying in. Katherine was entirely confused by it, so she immediately followed after him.

"Con, wait, where are you going?" Katherine asks as she opens the door to the room he's in.

She sees him sitting on his bed, looking down. She sits down next to him, but he quickly moves away from her. This makes Katherine even more confused at his change in demeanor as things were fine before they left.

"Conrad." Katherine moves closer again, but this time, he doesn't move away. "What's wrong?"

The boy doesn't say anything but instead just lies down on the bed, Katherine joining him. Conrad lays her head on his shoulder and Katherine starts to brush a hand through his hair. Conrad sighs in contentment. He doesn't say anything but just sits there and silently cries on her shoulder.

"What's wrong, Con?" Katherine asks sympathetically.

"I'm really scared, Katherine," Conrad barely whispers. "I don't know what to do."

"I know," Katherine answers. "We'll work it out, okay?"

"I don't know if we will," Conrad cries out.

Katherine hugs him while he cries. Slowly, Conrad starts to calm down as she rubs his back. Katherine starts to notice that his breathing starts to slow down and looks down to see his eyes closed and him resting. Katherine smiles slightly as she looks down at him and kisses his head while he sleeps. She doesn't move and just stays there to let him sleep.

Conrad wakes up to him lying on Katherine's chest. She doesn't notice as she's just on her phone. The boy becomes embarrassed remembering what happened before he passed out. He moves off Katherine's chest to lie on the pillow on his side of the bed. Katherine takes notice of this.

"Hey," Katherine starts. "You're awake."

"Yeah," Conrad mumbles as he turns over to face her. "I'm sorry."

"For what?" The girl asks.

"You know what."

Katherine scoffs at his answer. "You're allowed to have feelings, Con. You're human. I'm here for you, always."

Conrad smiles slightly, "Thanks." He leans over and hugs her. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

"Well, you're stuck with me, so you don't have to worry about that." They both laugh at her statement.

"What time is it?"

"Almost 7," Katherine responds. "Why?"

"Well, we said we'd go to that stupid party in an hour." Conrad reminds her.

Katherine groans, "Do we have to? Mara is so annoying."

"We'll just avoid her then," Conrad says, to which Katherine rolls her eyes. "Hey, come on! It'll be fun!"

"Ugh, fine." Katherine sighs, "You know if you were anybody else, I'd say no, right?"

"I do," Conrad smiles at his victory over the girl. "But you love me."

"Yeah, yeah," she mutters.

"Come on, go get ready, and we'll head out in an hour or so," Conrad says right before he tackles the girl in another hug.

They both burst out laughing before Katherine started to get up, "Yeah, whatever. See you soon."

Katherine comes out of her room after getting rest to see Conrad sitting on the couch. He's just on his phone but doesn't see her as his back is to her. She's wearing a dress for once, nothing fancy. It's a summer dress Caitlin gifted her and begged her to wear to a back-to-school party last year.

Conrad turns around after hearing her put the shoes she chose to wear on the ground. "Hey, you ready to-" He cuts himself off as he looks the girl up and down.

"What?" Katherine asks as she notices him looking, " Is this okay? Do I look okay? I wasn't sure about this I can change."

"No, no," Conrad stutters. "It's just uh-" He scratches the back of his head. "You look good, really good. I don't think I've seen you in a dress in a while. It suits you."

Katherine smiles and blushes slightly at his compliment. "Really?" Conrad nods at her. "Caitlin got it for my birthday last year. It's not really my style, but I think it fits for today, right?"

"Yeah," He starts, "It definitely does."

Katherine smiles as she walks up to him, giving him a hug. She sighs into his chest and he does the same as he wraps his arms around her. "You're too sweet to me, Con."

Conrad smiles with his head on top of hers. "Don't go all soft on me, Kat," Conrad teases as they separate. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah," Katherine sighs at the loss of contact. "We can go. I'll meet you in the car."

Katherine decided on a small pair of heels to wear, so she puts those on as Conrad heads to the car. It takes her a second as she hasn't worn heels in a while. She meets Conrad in his car and smiles at him.

"Ready?" Conrad asks the girl with a smile.

"As I'll ever be," Katherine replies before Conrad puts the car in reverse to get out of the driveway and head out.
