When Christmas came, we decided on our magic animals. Ginny went for a dragon, the Antipodean Opaleye, they being the most stealthy one, her Croc was no fun at all. Luna was fond of the thestrals and wanted it, being able to fly did it for her, a fairy was still on the table, but they are a bit small. Astoria loved her tiger form and could not decide just yet.

We made an appointment with Scamander for a visit to his traveling zoo to see if he has some interesting animals.

16 Choosing is hard.

We tracked Scamander down in NY, twenty miles outside the city he had a small house. I guess you don't need a big one when you live and work inside a trunk.

He took a good look at us and said: "So you are the ones that are breaking records and making us old folks embarrassed. Youngest animagus, youngest Tri-wizard champion, message Patronus at eleven…"

He looked me in the eye and said: "And exposed Dumbledore as a Dark Lord, not an easy task that one."

I shrugged: "I am not done yet. There is still a lot that I have to do, our reason for visiting is twofold, first is to study magical creatures, second, is to study your mansion trunk."

Scamander looked puzzled, he asked: "Why do you come here to study magical creatures? Hogwarts has a big selection in the forbidden forest."

Luna answered: "A big part was eaten by Hagrid's Acromantulas, there was a big colony two miles in the forest. We came here because your animals are domesticated and are easier to study."

Scamander nodded: "Aye, they are pretty docile compared to the ones in the wild or preserves, that did not answer my question, why do you want to study my animals?"

Everyone looked at Daphne, Susan, and Tracey, they are the political ones and are best at predicting future problems, they looked at each other and silently agreed.

Daphne answered: "We came here to select a magical animal as our animagus form. For your silence, we offer you four potions that will give you or the one of your choice to be an animagus, the same potion we took to become an animagus. We needed only two potions to succeed. The younger ones took four potions before they found their animal."

Scamander was stunned, he whispered: "You are planning to become magical Animagi? There hasn't been one since Merlin!… What?! You have a potion that skips all those steps to become an animagus?"

Tracey grinned: "Family magic Mr. Scamander, if you are familiar with your animal it only takes two potions, and yes, we plan to become magical animagi. I think Slytherin was the last magical one."

Susan added: "I am still not convinced of its use, I am more inclined to a small dog or cat."

Several girls already made up their minds, Marietta and the Bell twins went for double normal animals. Fourth-years and younger had to wait until they were older, a magical animal can not be reversed. It is a one-time decision, but they came along for the visit. Newt Scamander led us inside the trunk and we spread out.
