My business almost got disrupt

It’s 8:45am in the morning, I am hurriedly preparing to leave for lectures. I quickly picked up my car keys, locked my apartment and sped off like a car racer. My phone beeps, then i slow down to answer the call.

“Alicia what’s up.” Clara asks over the phone. 

“Clara I’m running late for class and the lecturer Mr Ponce is a pain in the neck from what I heard about him." I frown and hissed.

“That’s true.” Clara responds with a laugh. 

“can we talk later please.” I sip from the cup of coffee in my free hand.

“yes sure, drive safely dear.” Clara said and hung up. 

Few minutes later, I arrived at school and of course Mr Ponce was already in class.  

I inhaled and exhaled sharply, then put on my best smile before walking into the class.  

“Good morning Mr. Ponce.” I greeted him with a smile trying my best to fight the tension I was feeling by looking at the white board. The annoying giggles and whispers of students in the class weakened me to my knees. 

“What is good about the morning, Miss Alicia?” He looked at me from head to toe and returned his glance to the gold wristwatch I was wearing. 

I stood starring at the board, like a lunatic obviously avoiding his gaze.  

“Nice watch you have there, but it’s obvious you don’t make good use of it.” He concluded and faced the students who were already laughing at me. "Silent students, stop the gossip and focus." He yelled in an angry tone of voice. 

“I'm truly sorry, Mr Ponce, I am.” I tried to sound and look as sincere as possible.

He gave me a cold stare then gestured me to take a seat. All through his lecture that day, I was pretty sober.

“Clara, you should have seen the way Mr. Ponce embarrassed me today in front of those horrible students.” I sluggishly picked my food with the cutlery. 

“oops! Sorry about that dear” Clara said in a soothing tone of voice. 

“Thanks, Honey. So what did you want to talk about.”  I sipped some water.

“I just wanted to inform you of the party coming up this weekend, sexy guys from college will be there, sensational musicians will also be present. Alicia I’m pretty sure you don’t want to miss this.” She giggled and twisted her lower lip.

“Clara when is it happening?”  I dropped the table knife I was holding and dabbed my lips with a towel.

“It’s happening Friday night and we shall party till mama’s call.” She stood swiftly and whined her waist.  

“Clara." I whispered and smacked her butt slightly. "You are in public for goodness sake!" I exclaimed

"So who cares?" She replied nonchalantly and gulped a glass of water.

"Concerning the party, honestly I will pass, maybe some other time."  I fiddle with my fingers

“Alicia, I can assure you, there will be so much fun, you might fall in love at the party; who knows. There will also be soft drinks, alcohol and cigarette and good music."  

“Clara I will give you a reply Friday morning.” shrugged 

“pinky swear you would come.”  She grabbed my hands in a tight squeeze.

“Clara…” I stress 

“Alicia in college, we learn and have lots of fun” She replied in a singing tone
