Unwritten Destiny

Chapter 5

After a few minutes of looking at the beautiful buildings we were passing by, I didn’t realize that we had already reached our destination. "We're here," Kuya Drix said as he opened his car door to get out, so we did the same.

Stepping out of the car, I was even more amazed by what I saw. The mall was so tall and I couldn’t believe I was finally here, a place I used to only see on TV. While I was still in amaze of what I was seeing, I didn’t notice that Kuya and the others had already gone ahead to the entrance. I hurried to follow them, but as soon as I walked through the door, I was startled by the number of people, and I couldn't find them anywhere.

Panic quickly rose in my chest. I didn’t know where to start looking for them because I didn’t know anyone here, and I wasn’t familiar with the place at all.

I kept looking around, hoping to catch a glimpse of them, but I just couldn’t find them among the sea of people.

I was about to cry when someone suddenly spoke from behind me. "What are you doing here?" a cold voice asked from behind.

When I turned around, I was shocked to see that it was Von. He looked at me as if I were a stranger, his voice is cold and deep. Instead of answering his question, I just stared at his face and unable to speak.

It wasn’t until he passed by me that I snapped out of it. I quickly followed him and said, "I don’t know where Kuya and the others are. I fell behind earlier and didn’t realize they had already gone ahead."

"Can I stay with you for now?" I asked softly, just enough for him to hear.

I wasn’t sure if I imagined it, but I thought I saw him smile a little. But he quickly returned to his usual stern expression.

"Of course, I’m looking for Drix too," he said.

"Okay, but it might be hard to find them," I replied, feeling awkward because I didn’t expect to be with Von right now.

"The mall is huge, so it’ll be tough to find them. We shouldn’t waste time looking. Let’s just enjoy the day, shall we?" Von said, his words leaving me speechless. I nodded and quietly followed him.

As we walked around to see what we could do in the mall, I suddenly felt his hand holding mine. I stopped walking and looked at him. He noticed me staring at his hand holding mine. "I don’t want you to get lost again. Just being careful," he said with a cough, and I stayed quiet.

"Are you hungry?" Von asked after a few minutes. "Not really," I replied while looking around.

I was surprised when Von lifted my chin and made me look at him. "Look at me when I’m talking to you, baby," Von said softly, making my heart race.

I cleared my throat and pointed to a restaurant I saw, out of nervousness and embarrassment. I saw Von smirk as if he was enjoying how flustered I was.

He pulled me into the restaurant with a smile still on his face. I couldn’t help but stare at him, as he seemed even more handsome to me now.

"Pick whatever you want," Von said, still looking at me. "Hmm, I’ll have carbonara and a chocolate frappe," I said, not because I really wanted that, but because they were the only foods I was familiar with.

Von chuckled and raised his hand to probably call the waiter. "Can I get two carbonaras, two medium-rare steaks, and this blueberry cheesecake?"

"Any drinks, sir?" the waiter asked.

"And, oh, one chocolate frappe and one matcha latte." I was stunned by Von’s order, thinking how we’d be able to finish all of it.

"Are you okay?" Von asked. I just nodded.

I stared at Von, wondering if I should ask him if he was still studying. As far as I knew, Kuya Drix was only in his third year.

"What is it?" Von asked when he noticed I had something on my mind. "Are you still studying?" I asked softly, feeling shy about suddenly asking about his life.

"Yes," he replied curtly. I guessed he didn’t like talking much, so I just kept quiet and looked around.

"Hey," Von called my attention. "Ask me whatever you want, just focus on me," he said, which surprised me.

"Uh, okay, I don’t have anything else to ask," I said, and Von chuckled softly, shaking his head. Just then, the waiter arrived with our food.

While eating the carbonara, Von switched our steak plates after cutting them up. He then started eating.

After we finished eating, he invited me to the clothing section. I thought I’d just be helping him shop for clothes, but we ended up in the women’s section.

Von picked up a long white dress. "Try this on," Von said to me. "What for?" I asked.

"Just try it on," he said. I took the dress and glared at him, but he just smirked mischievously.

I tried on the dress. When I came out, I saw Von staring at me, so I smiled at him and quickly went back into the fitting room to change.

We left the shop and decided to just walk around until we found Kuya Drix and the others.
