The next morning, I woke up early to the sound of my alarm. It was my first day as a college student, and I felt both excited and nervous.

After stretching, I headed straight to the bathroom for a shower. Once done, I put on some jeans and a blouse, fixed myself up, and gathered all my things for school. I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness about the day ahead.

When I went downstairs, I found Lola and Tita in the kitchen preparing breakfast. "Good morning, Lola! Good morning, Tita!" I greeted them, kissing both of them on the cheek.

"Look at you, all excited for your first day!" Tita teased with a big smile.

"Be careful on your way, Yuella," Lola reminded me gently. "And listen well to your teachers."

"I will, Lola," I answered, nodding.

"Now sit down and eat so you’ll have energy for your first day," she said, gesturing toward the table. I sat down and started eating.

Just as we were finishing up, Kuya Drix came downstairs. "Drix, are you driving Yuella to school today?" Tita asked him. I looked at Kuya, waiting for his answer.

He gave me a playful grin and said, "Nah, Ma. Someone else is picking her up today."

Tita looked curious. "Who?" she asked. Just then, a car horn honked outside. I remembered Von had promised to drive me to school. When I turned to Tita and Lola to say goodbye, I saw them both smiling knowingly.

"Alright, dear. Be safe, and tell Von to drive carefully," Tita said, waving me off with a teasing grin.

I grabbed my things, said my goodbyes, and headed outside.

"Hii, good morning!" I greeted Von as I got into the front seat of his car.

"Good morning, Ella. Ready to go?" he asked with a smile. I nodded, and we set off. The drive was quick, probably because it was early and Von was a fast driver. Once we reached the campus, I thanked him and stepped out.

"Take care driving, Von. Thanks again," I said.

"You too, Ella. I’ll pick you up later," he replied before I waved and went inside.

The campus looked huge and even more impressive than during enrollment. As I walked to my building, I saw other students busy with their own routines. I finally found Room 201 on the second floor and stepped inside.

There were only a few students inside when I arrived. "Yuella!" I heard Tasia call out. She waved at me from across the room, so I smiled and sat beside her.

"Where’s Lyn?" I asked.

"Probably on the way," she replied. I nodded, settling into my seat.

Soon, Lyn and the others arrived. Shortly after, our professor entered, introducing himself as our adviser for the first year. He instructed us to head to the gym for the freshman orientation, so we all made our way there.

The gym was huge, and we were all impressed. Once we sat down, the program started. It was fun—there was live music, and the school organized games for each department to participate in. The atmosphere was exciting.

By lunchtime, we were starving. We decided to eat outside since the cafeteria was packed. After eating, we headed back to the gym for the rest of the orientation, which finished around 3:00 PM. I texted Von, and he said he was already waiting outside.

I said goodbye to Lyn and the others, who were planning to go to the mall, and promised to join them next time. They seemed a little disappointed but understood.

Outside, I spotted Von’s car easily. He was leaning against it, looking relaxed and drawing attention from some students. I quickly walked over to him.

"Hii," I greeted with a smile.

"Hey, Ella. Ready to go?" he asked as he opened the door for me.

"Where are we going, Von?" I asked, noticing we weren’t heading home.

"Just relax and wait," he said, smiling. I sat back, curious about where we were going.

We soon arrived at a park by a lake. The place was beautiful, and I couldn’t help but smile. We sat on a bench, and I noticed Von had brought some food. He had clearly planned this.

As we ate, Von asked me about my first day, and I happily shared everything that happened. I noticed him watching me closely as I talked, and when I paused, he said, "Go on, Ella," with a smile.

After sharing my day, I asked him how his day went, and he shared his stories as well. We sat there for a while, watching children play near the lake. The sight of a happy family playing nearby made me feel a little sad, but I tried not to show it.

Von noticed and asked, "Are you okay, Ella?" I smiled at him and nodded, pushing the sadness away.

We stayed until the sun began to set. The sunset was beautiful, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace watching it.

Afterward, Von drove me home, and I thanked him again. Back home, I went up to my room, changed clothes, and headed down for dinner with Lola and Tita. They asked about my first day, and I shared a few details with them.

Later, after helping with the dishes, I went back to my room. I spent some time reviewing my notes to prepare for the next day. Just as I was about to fall asleep, I saw a message from Von on my phone.

From: Von Azure
Hey, Ella, I’m home. What are you up to?

To: Von Azure
I’m about to sleep. You?

From: Von Azure
Alright. Goodnight, Ella.

To: Von Azure
Goodnight, Von.

I put my phone down and closed my eyes, falling asleep almost immediately, tired from the day’s events.
