The sterile scent of the hospital filled the quiet room, the faint beeping of machines the only sound. Jack sat beside Mayumi's bed, his body aching from the fight, bandages wrapped around his arms and chest. He watched her closely, her pale face framed by the soft glow of the overhead lights. She was still weak, her injuries severe, but she was awake, her eyes fluttering open to find him there.
"You're still here," she whispered, her voice barely audible but filled with relief.
Jack leaned closer, resting his hand gently over hers. "I told you I wouldn't leave," he replied, his voice thick with exhaustion. "I'd fight them all again if it meant you'd be safe."
Mayumi's lips curved into a soft, tired smile. Her fingers weakly tightened around his. "You saved me."
His eyes softened as he looked at her, the weight of everything they'd been through hanging between them. Without saying a word, he leaned in, brushing a strand of hair away from her face, his touch lingering.
For a moment, they just looked at each other-two souls battered but still holding on. Jack's gaze flickered down to her lips, and before he could stop himself, he gently leaned in, pressing his lips to hers. It was soft, tentative, yet full of all the unspoken emotions between them.
The kiss was short but meaningful, their breaths mingling as they pulled away, their foreheads resting together. Jack exhaled shakily, his heart racing. "I'll always protect you, Mayumi."
Her eyes fluttered open, filled with warmth and trust. "I know," she whispered, her voice barely a breath, but the strength in it was undeniable.
They stayed like that, locked in a quiet moment of peace amidst the chaos, knowing they had each other, no matter what came next.

Jack was admitted to the hospital, burning with a high fever, his skin paler than ever. Ren sat beside him on the sofa, the room secured tightly with guards outside. Kevin entered the room but completely ignored Jack's presence, sitting next to Ren to discuss business matters. Ren understood why Kevin was ignoring Jack-it was to keep his temper in check.
Jack, struggling with the pain, could barely take it anymore. In a weak, barely audible voice, he muttered, "Daa...da...dad!" Kevin heard it. He stood up, walked over to Jack, and stared down at him with cold eyes.
"Why did you do this again?" Kevin asked, his voice filled with disappointment. "Haven't I warned you before? Wasn't that supposed to be your last warning?"
Jack trembled, fear surging through him. He had no idea what Kevin might do next. Without warning, Kevin lifted Jack high into the air by his neck. Jack struggled for breath, suffocating as Kevin's grip tightened.
"This time, there will be no more warnings," Kevin shouted in rage. "Now, you'll face the consequences of your disobedience. Just wait and see."
He released Jack, who fell onto the bed, coughing violently. Jack's body convulsed as he vomited blood. Ren, alarmed, immediately called for a doctor, his eyes fixed on Jack, who lay gasping for air.
