Death Wings

My soul is a bird with broken wings,
Longing to fly, but weighed down by things.
The world's vibrant colors now fade to gray,
And I'm tired of living this way.

I've worn a mask of smiles and laughter,
Hiding the pain that comes with each passing hour.
Life's become a heavy load to bear,
And I yearn for peace, without a care.

Death's unknown waters call to me,
A journey to the other side, where I'll be free.
No anchors hold, no shores in sight,
But I'm drawn to the darkness of the night.

Like falling leaves, my heart's on fire,
Longing to let go, to leave life's pain and tire.
Who'll miss me? Will my absence leave,
A memory, a whisper, or a tear to grieve?

In death's silence, I seek solace and peace,
A haven from life's relentless, endless release.
The unknown calls, a gentle breeze,
Promising calm, where my heart can ease.
