The night they spent together under the stars felt like a turning point for both Zhang Hao and Y/N. Even though their time together was limited, the bond they had was undeniable. They knew that no matter how busy their lives got, they would find a way to make it work.
The next day, Zhang Hao surprised Y/N again.
"Are you sure about this?" she asked, standing in front of the Zerobaseone dorm, her nerves bubbling up. She had never been inside, and the idea of meeting his bandmates in such an informal setting made her a little anxious.
Zhang Hao smiled reassuringly. "Of course. They've been dying to meet you ever since I told them about you. And besides, you've already heard enough about them."
Y/N laughed nervously. "Yeah, but hearing stories is different from meeting them in person."
Zhang Hao gently squeezed her hand. "They'll love you. Trust me."
Taking a deep breath, Y/N nodded. Together, they walked into the dorm. The atmosphere was lively, as expected in a place where nine boys lived together. She could hear laughter and faint music coming from the living room as they stepped inside.
Zhang Hao called out to the group. "Guys! I'm home!"
Within moments, a burst of energy filled the room as the members of Zerobaseone rushed to greet them. Hanbin, the leader, was the first to approach, offering a warm smile.
"You must be Y/N," he said kindly. "Zhang Hao talks about you all the time."
Y/N blushed, glancing at Zhang Hao, who rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Does he now?"
Jiwoong, the eldest, stepped forward next. "Yeah, we've been hearing about you for weeks. It's nice to finally meet the girl who's always on his mind."
Y/N's blush deepened, and she could barely hold back her laughter as Zhang Hao playfully glared at Jiwoong. "Hyung, don't embarrass me!"
Matthew and Taerae soon joined the conversation, offering their own enthusiastic greetings. Gyuvin, true to his prankster nature, threw out a teasing comment about how Zhang Hao had been a "lovesick puppy" ever since they met, making everyone burst into laughter. Even Ricky and Gunwook chimed in, adding their own playful remarks about Zhang Hao's soft side. While Yujin was sleeping.
Despite her initial nervousness, Y/N found herself relaxing around the group. Their easygoing nature made her feel at home, and before long, she was laughing and joking along with them.
As the evening went on, they all gathered in the living room, chatting and eating snacks. Y/N learned more about each of the members, their personalities shining through in the stories they shared. Matthew talked about his love for music, while Taerae told funny stories about their practice sessions. Gunwook and Ricky shared some behind-the-scenes moments from their time on stage, making Y/N laugh at the chaos that often unfolded during their performances.
Zhang Hao watched Y/N interact with his friends, his heart swelling with pride. He had always felt a strong connection with her, but seeing her blend so easily with the people who were like family to him made him realize how much she truly meant to him.
After a while, Hanbin stood up and stretched. "I think it's time we give these two some space," he said with a knowing smile. "We've hogged her long enough."
The other members agreed, and one by one, they headed off to their rooms or other parts of the dorm, leaving Zhang Hao and Y/N alone in the living room.
As the last of his bandmates disappeared, Zhang Hao turned to Y/N, who was still smiling from all the fun they had shared.
"You fit right in," Zhang Hao said softly, his voice filled with warmth.
Y/N leaned back on the couch, letting out a small sigh of relief. "They're great. I can see why you're so close with them."
Zhang Hao sat down beside her, his hand finding hers. "They mean a lot to me, but so do you."
Y/N smiled, feeling her heart race at his words. "I'm glad I got to meet them. It makes me feel like I'm really part of your life now."
"You've always been part of my life," Zhang Hao said softly. "Even before we met."
The sincerity in his voice made Y/N's heart swell. She had always known they shared something special, but hearing him say it like that made it feel even more real.
They sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes, just enjoying each other's presence. Eventually, Zhang Hao broke the quiet with a soft laugh.
"You know, they're all going to tease me about this tomorrow," he said, glancing toward the hallway where his bandmates had disappeared.
Y/N laughed. "Oh, definitely. But I think you can handle it."
Zhang Hao chuckled, squeezing her hand. "I think I can too."
As the evening continued, they talked more about their lives, their dreams, and the challenges they faced. Zhang Hao shared stories from his time as a trainee, the long hours of practice, and the pressure of debuting. Y/N, in turn, told him more about her journey to becoming a doctor, the long nights of studying and the moments of doubt she had faced along the way.
Despite their different paths, they found comfort in each other's stories, realizing that they both understood the sacrifices and hard work it took to pursue their dreams.
As the night grew late, Zhang Hao walked Y/N to the door, reluctant to say goodbye.
"I wish you could stay longer," he said, his voice soft and filled with longing.
"I know," Y/N replied, feeling the same way. "But we'll see each other again soon, right?"
Zhang Hao nodded, his eyes full of promise. "Definitely."
Before she left, he pulled her into a gentle hug, holding her close for a few moments longer than necessary. Y/N closed her eyes, savoring the warmth of his embrace.
"I'll miss you," Zhang Hao whispered against her hair.
"I'll miss you too," Y/N replied, her voice equally soft.
As they pulled away, Zhang Hao gave her one last smile. "Get home safe, okay?"
Y/N nodded, smiling back. "I will. Goodnight, Zhang Hao."
"Goodnight, Y/N."
With one last look, Y/N turned and walked out of the dorm, her heart full of warmth and happiness. She had met his world, and it felt like she belonged there. And as she headed home, she knew that no matter how busy their lives became, they would always find a way back to each other.
