A year had passed since Zhang Hao and Y/N had started discussing their future, and life had taken them on unexpected but beautiful paths. Despite their busy schedules, they had made time for each other, nurturing their relationship as best they could. Though they still dealt with the challenges of long-distance, they knew that what they had was worth holding onto.
It was a quiet spring day when Zhang Hao suggested something that took Y/N by surprise.
Zhang Hao: "How about we take a trip? I have a little time off, and I know exactly where I want to take you."
Y/N, who had been deep in her hospital duties, was immediately intrigued. A trip? With Zhang Hao? It had been months since they had the chance to spend any real time together. She quickly replied, excitement bubbling inside her.
Y/N: "Where are we going?"
Zhang Hao's response was simple but mysterious. "It's a surprise. Pack light and leave the rest to me."
Two days later, Y/N found herself standing at the airport, suitcase in hand, waiting for Zhang Hao to arrive. Her heart pounded with excitement as she spotted him walking toward her, his familiar smile lighting up his face. He looked more relaxed than usual, the exhaustion from his usual busy schedule replaced by a quiet joy.
"Hao," Y/N called out, waving at him.
He smiled wider, rushing over to pull her into a tight embrace. "I've missed you," he whispered into her ear.
"I've missed you too," Y/N replied, hugging him back tightly. "So, where are you taking me?"
Zhang Hao chuckled, pulling away just enough to look at her. "You'll see. I promise you'll love it."
After a short flight and a scenic drive, Y/N finally understood where they were going. The moment she saw the familiar streets, her heart filled with nostalgia. Zhang Hao had brought her back to the city where they first met—the very place where their story had begun.
"I thought it'd be nice to revisit where it all started," Zhang Hao said with a soft smile, watching Y/N's reaction as they walked through the streets. "I've been thinking a lot about how far we've come, and I wanted to share this with you."
Y/N's chest tightened with emotion. She looked around, memories flooding her mind—their first conversation, the first time they heard each other's voices in their heads, the fateful moments that had brought them together. "This is perfect, Hao," she said softly, taking his hand in hers.
Zhang Hao led Y/N to all the places that held significance to their relationship. They visited the café where they'd had their first official date, laughing as they ordered the same drinks they had shared on that day. They strolled through the park where they had spent countless hours talking, the cherry blossoms now in full bloom, just as they had been when they first walked there together.
As the day went on, they revisited moments they hadn't spoken about in a long time. It was a trip down memory lane, but it also felt like a celebration of how much they had grown as a couple.
By the time the sun began to set, they found themselves sitting on a bench overlooking the river, the soft light casting a warm glow over the water. Zhang Hao reached into his bag and pulled out something that made Y/N laugh—a small, worn-out notebook.
"Do you remember this?" he asked, flipping through the pages.
Y/N smiled, recognizing the notebook immediately. It was where they had first written down little notes to each other, back when their relationship was still new. "I can't believe you still have it."
"I kept it because it reminds me of where we started," Zhang Hao said softly, his eyes filled with affection. "It's a reminder of how far we've come. And I want us to keep writing our story, no matter what."
Y/N leaned her head on his shoulder, feeling her heart swell with love. "I want that too."
As they sat together, watching the sunset, Zhang Hao turned to Y/N with a look she hadn't seen in a while—something more serious, but filled with hope.
"I don't know what the future holds, but I know that I want you in it," he said, echoing the words he had spoken to her so many months ago. "I want us to keep growing, to keep building something real."
Y/N's eyes filled with tears as she looked at him, the weight of his words settling in her heart. "Hao... I feel the same way."
He smiled, wiping a stray tear from her cheek. "I love you, Y/N. And no matter what happens, I'm always going to fight for us."
Y/N nodded, her voice thick with emotion. "I love you too, Hao. Always."
And as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the world in shades of gold and pink, Zhang Hao and Y/N sat in the quiet of the moment, knowing that their love story was still just beginning. The past had shaped them, but the future was theirs to create—together.
