Across the castle, in the quiet corners of the library, Hermione Granger sat at a desk, books spread before her, though her mind was far from the academic world she once found solace in. Her relationship with Ron had always been tumultuous, filled with bickering and moments of deep connection, but now, it felt like they were stuck in a loop of arguments they couldn’t escape. The cracks that had formed during the war had only deepened.

Ron had accused her of being too obsessed with her work, too focused on things that didn’t include him. He wanted a simpler life, something Hermione couldn’t give him. She wanted to change the world, to rebuild the magical society, to ensure no one else had to suffer as they had. Ron, on the other hand, sought peace and normalcy after the horrors they had faced.

Earlier that day, the argument had come to a head.

“You don’t need to be involved in everything, Hermione!” Ron had snapped. “Not everything is a bloody project to fix. We fought the war, we won, now why can’t you just… let it go?”

Hermione had stared at him, stunned. “Let it go? Ron, there’s so much that still needs to be done! We can’t just ignore the problems—”

“We? Or you?” Ron’s voice was hard, frustration etched in every word. “I’m tired, Hermione. Tired of fighting, tired of always being second to your books and your causes.”

The words stung, and Hermione had known, deep down, that this was the end. The love they had shared couldn’t survive their differences, not now. She had always known Ron wasn’t someone who would be by her side in the work she dreamed of doing. And he had always known that Hermione’s ambitions were far greater than just living a quiet life.

“I think we need a break,” Hermione said softly, her voice trembling. “Maybe we’re just… too different.”

Ron had stared at her, the fight draining out of him. “Maybe,” he whispered before walking away.

Now, in the silence of the library, Hermione wiped away a tear and closed the book in front of her. She had always prided herself on her strength, her ability to push through anything, but tonight, she felt utterly lost.

Little did Harry or Hermione know, this night was only the beginning of something far bigger than their broken relationships. Forces beyond their understanding were moving, forces that would soon drag them into a conflict that spanned not only their world, but another entirely.
