It's not being scared of the dark. It's being scared of what's in the dark. At least, that's what Nova tells herself as she stares down the coat rack at the end of the dark hallway. As she was about to determine if it was the Hatman, tiny footsteps started coming out of their room. With a sigh, Nova motions I'm watching you with her hands at the coat rack before making her way up the stairs.

"Amelia?" Nova questioned the seven-year-old girl who she put to bed an hour ago. "What are you doing out of bed?"

"It's doing it again" Amelia admitted, staring down at her toes before continuing. "the voices."

Just another reason to add to the list of things to be afraid of in this house. Nova thought as she guided Amelia back to her bed.

"I know, honey," Nova whispered, running her hands through Amelia's red hair. With a sharp glare at the crack in the wall, Nova climbed into the bed with Amelia. "I can't make the crack go away but I can take your mind off of it."

"Will you tell me a story?" Amelia questioned. "The one about the stars, it's my favorite."

"What about a new story tonight?" Nova questioned. A light smile stretched across Nova's face as she looked down at Amelia. They both settled into a comfortable position. "I think you'll like this one"

"There's a story about the Moon and the Sun. In the beginning, the two lovers shined brightly across the universe with each other. Then the earth came and forced the two to separate, making them destined to follow one another forever and never touch. The two lovers once together now repel against each other like magnets, always on the opposite side of one another. The Moon now follows the light of the Sun, savoring every hint of warmth left behind from his lover. The universe granted the lovers a gift to make amends for the life the lovers now live. For their gift, the universe allows the Sun and the Moon one rare moment to feel the warmth of their lover's embrace. The two cherish these moments, never taking them for granted. These moments are rare, only taking place during a full solar eclipse where it is rumored that the Moon and the Sun share a moment so intense, so passionate, that it would make even the strongest of men blind. The full solar eclipse is a moment where two separated lovers are connected once more, and when their moment ends, the two cry. The day turns grey in sorrow, the sky darkens, humans turn away and the Sun watches in utter despair, knowing she'll never feel her lover for more than just this moment. The Moon begs the universe for mercy. For something more than just this moment. And the universe listened."

"What did the universe do?" Amelia questioned. "Were they reunited?"

"No, the universe gifted them a child," Nova answered. "A child in the form of the brightest star in the sky. The universe gifted that child with a soul and sent the Star to Earth where the Sun and the Moon could watch their child grow."

"But wouldn't the child eventually die?" Amelia questioned, confused as to how that could be a gift.

"It is rumored that when the universe gifted the Star a soul, it split an existing soul in half and provided it to the child. The Star will spend its life searching for its other half, and once the soul finds its other half. The Sun and the Moon's child will become immortal."

"Immortal" Amelia whispered in amazement. "Do you think it's true?"

"I think anything can happen, Amelia," Nova whispered, tiredly. "You just have to believe.
