Contd from Three Years Ago.

Short Chapter.

The trial was over. Mike was declared partially negligent. This was the most realistic outcome we could've hoped for. The best outcome would be Louise not suing Mike and Mr. Williams not dying, but, one can only hope.

"So," Jacob came towards me, "You fought tooth and nail for my brother, thank you. And I'm sorry for doubting you or offending you by keeping my lawyers on stand-by. He's my little brother and I would do anything to protect him, even if I make enemies while doing that."

I smirk at him, "As cheesy as that was, I understand, I'd do the same for my sisters. That being said, I appreciate the apology. And, I'd also appreciate it, if you wouldn't stare at me creepily."

"Wait, what?" he asks, visibly confused. "I never stared at you, creepy or otherwise."

"You did."

"Did not."

"Did."

"Nope."

"Hey, you guys. Quit it." Eleanor butts in.

Mike joins in. "He indirectly told me that he found you attractive the day we had lunch together. After you guys left. Just FYI."

Nora and Mike's phones buzz at almost the same time, and they excuse themselves to take it.

"So-" I start to say at the same time as he says, "Can I-"

"Umm, you can go first." I say to him.

"No, it's fine, you can go first." He tells me.

"Just say it, damn it!" I yelled. Sheesh.

"Can I call you? Maybe to set up a dinner? Or a lunch?" Oh my god. He's asking me out. But, his reputation is a downside. Eleanor was right. He is attracted to me. Holy smokes. What should I say? Yes? No? Maybe?

"Just text me the day and time, and I'll have Alex move my schedule accordingly." I tell him.

"I will. But don't ghost me. Bye, Emma" he smiles. God, he's so hot.

"Bye, Jacob."

"It's Jake," he says.

"Huh?"

"I said, call me Jake."

I laugh as I say, "Yeah, okay, bye Jake. You can call me Emmy, if you want to."

He smiles as he goes toward his brother and hugs him. Then, they leave the courtroom, happier than anyone else.

Eleanor slid next to me, "So, I was right then. He does find you attractive."

I shove her to the side, "He asked me out."

"Are you gonna take him up on that?"

"I am, I think" I start packing up my things as Eleanor hovers around me like a puppy wanting treats, but in her case, the treat is me acknowledging her being correct. "Shall I leave or are you coming with me?" I ask her as I dangle my keys next to her face.

She rolls her eyes, "Of course, I'm coming. You expect me to miss out on Ajji's (grandma's) delicious dinner for tonight?"

"If you did, it'd be more of her food for me." I shrug, and she shoves me and hits my shoulder.
