Chapter 16: Confusion

Elena's POV

This past year has been the best year of my life...or so I keep saying. But I can't help but to feel like something's missing. But if I think about it too hard I get this huge headache. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Nik. But sometimes I just think he might be hiding something from me. Crazy right?

Nik: Lena?

Me: Yeah Nik?

Nik: We're at the store.

Me: Oh...ok.

I get out and grab Justin out of the back. Now this baby boy is my world!!! He's getting so big! He's almost a year old. But the more he grows the more he reminds me of someone...I just can't remember who. Oh well.

We go in the store and I head straight for this camouflage outfit. It said Daddy's little trooper. I hold it up so Nik can see it. I see a look of regret on his face. He gets that way about Justin sometimes. Like he regrets having him. But at the same time you can see in his eyes how much he loves our son.

Nik: That is perfect Lena.

I keep looking through the clothes until I found a suit. For some reason that makes me smile. I mean its nothing special. Just an ordinary suit. I grab it and put it in the cart. I grab some more clothes for Justin and we pay for them and leave.

Klaus's POV

I feel so bad for doing this to Elijah sometimes. But then I look at Elena and Justin and can't imagine what I would do without them. Justin is learning how to talk. He said Dada the other day! Sometimes I think about giving Elena and Justin back to Elijah...but then Justin does something cute and I just can't. But I should go visit Lijah soon. I'll do that tomorrow.

Me: Lena?

Lena: Yeah?

Me: I have to go away on business tomorrow. Marcel will watch over you and Justin while I'm gone. Don't leave the house. If you need anything just...

Lena: Call Marcel, I know Nik. We do this every week. Can't business wait? I was thinking we could have Marcel watch Justin, and me and you can go out on a date.

Me: I'm sorry love, it's really important. I promise we will go out when I get back.

Lena lowers her head. She starts to cry.

Lena: Nik...do you not love me and Justin anymore? I mean you're always out on bussiness. And I see the way you look at Justin sometimes. You act like you regret having him? If you don't love us anymore just tell me and we'll leave. I'm sure Bon will let me stay in Mystic Falls with her until I can get a job.

I lift her head and put our foreheads against each other.

Me: Lena, of course I love you and Justin! You guys are my world. I just don't know what I did to deserve such an amazing family! I don't know what I would do without you guys. Your crazy if you think I'm going to let you two walk out of my life!

Lena smiled and gave me a kiss and we headed back home.

Elijah's POV

I arrive home and go up to take a shower before Bonnie, Caroline, Tyler, Matt, Jeremy and Stefan show up. I get out to hear the door bell. I vamp speed down to answer it.

Me: Oh, Miss Bennett, Miss Forbes, Mr. Lockwood, Mr. Donavan, Mr. Gilbert, and Mr. Salvatore. Come on in.

Bonnie: Ok Elijah, what's going on?

Me: Elena is alive!

Jeremy: My sister is alive?

Caroline: What? Where is she?

Me: In New Orleans.

Tyler: New Orleans? What's she doing there?

Me: It seams she has fallen in love with my brother. That's where they live with my son.

Stefan: As much as I hate to say this...he must have compelled her.

Me: Why do you say that?

Stefan: Because...I had never seen her as happy as she was with you. She looked up to you. That's why I let her go. I knew she would never be as happy with me as she is with you. We talked before she "died" and had become very close friends. She talked about you constantly. Now let's stop talking and go save my best friend!

Caroline: Hey! I thought I was your best friend!

Stefan: You both are.

Matt: Yeah, we need to get Elena back guys!!!

Me: Wait guys, be quiet. Niklaus is calling in.

Me: Niklaus?

Nik: Lijah, I'll be there in a couple of hours. I'm leaving now. How's Mystic Falls?

Me: Boring.

Nik: Ok, I'll be there soon.

Me: Ok.

Me: Ok guys, here's the plan. Niklaus is on his way here. So you guys need to leave now. Go to New Orleans. Knowing my brother he will have his old friend Marcel watching her. He has vampires under his command. So watch out. Get Elena and the baby and get out. Good luck guys! And thank you.

Bonnie: It's ok Elijah. We'll bring Elena home to you.
