"Well... my dream is to take over the world and lead it into chaos!" Kokichi smiled innocently. Obviously that wasn't actually his dream, just a joke. Mostly a joke, anyways. Shuichi stared at him, slightly concerned. "Geez, you're so gullible, Shumai! I wouldn't actually lead the world into chaos, I'd be a great leader who got rid of taxes!" "Right..." Shuichi wasn't exactly sure about that last part. He knew Kokichi was lying, but didn't know how to address it. What was it that Kokichi actually dreamed about? The shorter male didn't seem like the type to get embarrassed easily, so it made no sense to hide it. Did Kokichi just not have a dream? No, that couldn't be it. Shuichi pondered this for a while, well, more like 5 minutes. His thoughts were interrupted by the little liar. "Well, my eight minute break is up, I gotta get back to Starfucks!" He was less than enthusiastic about that. "Right... well, good luck, I guess?" The taller boy mentally face palmed himself. Do people even say good luck when someone goes to work? It was too late, he couldn't take that sentence back. The two boys parted ways, Kokichi back at work, and Shuichi heading home. Shuichi found his thoughts drifting to what Kokichi could possibly dream of, and why he's hiding it. As chaotic and extroverted as he seemed, he wasn't easy to read. The only conclusion the detective could draw is that Kokichi simply didn't trust Shuichi. This slightly hurt, but he didn't know why. They didn't know each other for that long, they just met a few days ago. Still, this hung at the back of Shuichi's mind. Hours passed, Kokichi barely made enough to cover his rent. With the amount of Karens he deals with, he thought he deserved a huge ass raise. Once Kokichi got paying his rent out of the way, he sat down on his bed. He thought about Shuichi's question. What was his dream? "Is my dream even worth considering a dream?" Kokichi thought. It was something simple, yet something he wanted desperately. His dream was to be truly understood by someone. Well, that, and the halfly joking world domination thing too. Being understood wasn't something easy for Kokichi. After all, he does put up a mask and makes it as difficult as possible like the little bitch he is. Most people don't try to get to know him beyond the face he puts on. But, he couldn't help but wonder if Shuichi was different. "No, I'm just getting ahead of myself," Kokichi sighed. In truth, Shuichi is probably the first person he trusted, genuinely trusted, for a while. But the short boy pushed that feeling aside, deciding it's not worth wasting time on. It was easier to create a false image of himself, than to open up, even to someone he trusts. The only disadvantage to that is that you forget who you truly are, and you begin to come up with false dreams.
Author's note: Sorry that this chapter is slightly shorter than usual. It's been over a year since I actually worked on this, and I honestly forgot what it was even about. I don't even know if the Danganronpa fandom is still alive, or if you all evaporated or something. Truthfully, I don't even know if I'll finish this. Maybe in like, 3 more years, complete a chapter a year, sound fair? I don't even know why you're willingly reading my crappy writing, but thank you♡. I'm going to disappear again, bye bye!
