Chapter Two: Calming Chaos

The next day arrived, and as usual, homeroom was the first class. Everyone was chatting amongst themselves but one person was missing; Kokichi. Shuichi was relieved by that, until Kokichi entered the doors, not in the same way he did the previous day however. He didn't announce the fact that he had arrived, he didn't run in the classroom and he wasn't trying to catch his breath, he was dead silent. Shuichi barely knows the boy but knew something was probably wrong. He had the choice to ask what was wrong, but Shuichi decided its probably better not to pry into other's issues. Kokichi sat down and decided to just stare out the nearest window, humming a song Shuichi didn't recognize. "What are you staring at?" Kokichi looked at Shuichi, had Shuichi zoned out again? "Oh, I'm sorry! I just couldn't help that you seemed a bit off today..." "What a great observation detective! Amazing, you hardly know me and you already know when something is wrong!" Kokichi's neutral expression was replaced with a wide smile. "If you must know... A good friend of mine by the name of Nagito Komaeda had passed due to illness..." Shuichi instantly felt bad for Kokichi, he'd hate to loose someone he really cared about like Kaede or Kaito, and he understood that Kokichi must be really upset about this. However, two seconds later, the taller male wasn't feeling so sympathetic towards the shorter male as he had returned to his regular chaotic and somewhat annoying self. He kept teasing Shuichi every chance he got, and wouldn't stop asking a million questions, until one question particularly stood out to Shuichi. "Do you have any dreams you wish to come true?" Shuichi didn't know how to answer this, he hadn't had dreams for a long time now. "No, I don't really have dreams anymore. They're just childish desires anyways-" "But that's where you're wrong! You're never too old to dream! My friend Nagito had many dreams, and said that with a little hope, they would come true someday!" Shuichi just couldn't understand why Kokichi thought dreams could come true, but he had a very childish personality, so it suited him. "Come on! What's a dream you used to have!" Kokichi wasn't exactly asking for an answer, he was demanding for one. "Well... When I was younger, I used to dream about getting out of my comfort zone and being okay with it, and everyone being proud of me..." Shuichi was embarrassed and thought it was kind of stupid, but Kokichi thought the opposite. "I can help make that dream come true! That is, if you're willing to take my hand and trust me..." Kokichi held out his hand, and Shuichi thought for a moment. Was this really a good idea? He barely knows Kokichi and he claims he can make a dream he had as a child come true. Maybe he wasn't being serious? Finally, Shuichi took Kokichi's hand, and Kokichi ran out of class and out of the school, dragging Shuichi with him. "What are we doing?" "Skipping school to have an adventure!" Kokichi continued to run, despite Shuichi's protests of how they should be in class and that this was a bad idea. Of course, Kokichi ignored him. Finally, they had reached their destination which appeared to be a park of some sort. "This way!" Kokichi pointed at some trees that had a path behind them and led Shuichi there, not that Shuichi had much of a choice. Although it wasn't something huge, skipping school was definitely out of Shuichi's comfort zone, but part of him was excited to see where the short boy was taking him. It wasn't like the chaotic Kokichi Shuichi had witnessed yesterday, Kokichi was still chaotic, but it was more of a calming chaos.
