Behind the trees was a beautiful field filled with flowers. Shuichi stood there in amazement. He instantly forgot all his problems and his responsibilities. Shuichi wanted to stay here forever if he could. "Soooooo, what do you think?" Shuichi snapped back to reality to see Kokichi smiling, proud of himself. "It's... beautiful! How did you know this was here?" "My super secret and evil organization discovered it when we were like 12! We came here whenever we needed a break from something," Shuichi didn't believe the 'secret organization' part of Kokichi's story, but let it slide. "So detective, was going out of your comfort zone the only dream you had?" Shuichi thought for a moment, he must of had other dreams too, but couldn't remember them. "I don't really remember my other dreams..." Shuichi looked down at the ground, feeling stupid to forget the dreams you once had as a child. "That's Ok! We'll just keep building on this one! Little by little!" Part of Shuichi was scared to see what Kokichi was planning, but he also couldn't wait to have small adventures like this. Time went by quickly, and the two boys got to know each other better. It had turned out Kokichi isn't completely as terrible as Shuichi had thought before. However, Shuichi could tell that Kokichi's chaos was a mere facade, and was curious what the genuine Kokichi was like. He had seen part of it in the morning, but Kokichi was able to quickly change his emotions. "School would be over by now, I think we should get going," Shuichi didn't want to leave this field of beauty, and Kokichi saw that. "How about this, we could come here everyday after school if you promise to trust me and do things you may never thought to do!" Shuichi considered that deal, was it worth it? He knew where the place was, but Kokichi would probably be upset if he came here uninvited. So, Shuichi agreed and they had a deal. They left the field and returned home. Kokichi returned to what he had called home, an empty apartment that he could barely afford. Kokichi often had doubts about himself, but Shuichi interested him. It was almost as if Shuichi gave Kokichi a feeling of hope. A feeling that soon, his own dreams would come true, but he'd have to be patient. Shuichi returned home to an uncle who instantly questioned him. "Where were you?! The teachers said you were absent all day!" Shuichi was starting to sweat, he could lie about what he did, but he was a terrible liar so it'd be no use, especially since his uncle is a detective. "I was skipping class with a classmate..." Shuichi stared at the ground, expecting his uncle to be angry beyond imagination at him, but his uncle did nothing. "I'm kind of disappointed in you Shuichi, but I'll let it slide this time if you promise that won't happen again," his uncle smiled, more proud that Shuichi had did something out of his comfort zone than angry at Shuichi skipping classes. "I promise!" and with that, Shuichi went to his room to see text messages from Kaede. She had been asking where he was all day, and Shuichi felt guilty. He replied to her, and she joked about how she couldn't believe that straight a's student Shuichi skipped class. She sent him the lessons from that day and the homework. Normally, Shuichi would do this right away, but he couldn't help but think of what would happen tomorrow, or the next day when meeting Kokichi once again. Whatever was going to happen, Shuichi partly couldn't wait. Maybe being childish was just what Shuichi needed. Maybe Shuichi's dream would be the start of something between the tall and short male.
