Walker lay sprawled on his bed, aimlessly scrolling through TikTok with his phone held above his face, his boredom reaching new heights. The sun shone brightly on a cool California noon, but he felt utterly uninspired, having completed his packing for a stay in Vancouver. With nothing on his agenda, he basked in the luxury of free time.
Truth be told, boredom was wearing him out, and he was considering a trip downstairs for a snack when the door suddenly swung open, jolting him and causing his phone to fall directly onto his face, sending a jolt of pain through him.
"Your daughters are sick, Walker!!" a voice shouted.
Rubbing his sore face, Walker propped himself up slowly. "What the heck, Tanner?" he exclaimed, still trying to process what was happening. "My daughters?"
"Thank you, honey. I'll take it from here," Mrs. Scobell said as she entered the room with a calm demeanor.
With an unsettling cackle, Tanner stepped out, leaving Walker bewildered, still reeling from the confusion and the lingering pain on his face.
Mrs. Scobell let out a deep sigh. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but Tanner has a point-at least partially. Jayda needs you and Leah to look after Nova and Daya. The poor little ones are suffering from the flu," she explained.
Walker nodded, her words sinking in as a look of sympathy washed over his face. "Aww," he frowned.
"I know. But come on, sweetheart. Just seeing you and Leah will brighten their day," Mrs. Scobell said as she stepped out of the room.
Once she was gone, Walker quickly grabbed his phone again, scrolling through his contacts until he found the one labeled 'luvbug🧸💕'. He tapped the call button, and the familiar ringtone filled the air before transitioning to the sound of the call connecting.

"Hi, gorgeous. Did you hear about the twins?" he asked softly.
.ﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩ٨"I did," Leah replied, her tone tinged with concern. "I feel so sorry for our little loves.".ﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩ٨
"Me too," Walker said. "I just wish there was more we could do for them."
.ﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩ٨There was a brief pause before Leah spoke again. "I know. But just being there for them will make a difference. They love seeing us.".ﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩ٨
"Well, of course!" Walker said, provoking a light chuckle from Leah.
"I'll see you soon, okay?" he added.
.ﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩ٨"Okay. Bye, Walker," Leah said..ﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩﮩ٨ﮩ٨
"Bye, love," he replied, pressing the button to end the call, which produced three soft beeps before silence returned.
He let his phone fall onto the bed and began to ponder. He was disappointed that Nova and Daya were sick, but he was determined to make the most of the situation. After all, this was likely the last time he would babysit the girls for a while, and on the bright side, he would get to see Leah today. The thought of her made him blush.
