"Do you have everything you need before we go, Steven?" Pearl looks over at the boy, who's stuffing random junk into a hamburger themed backpack.

"Yeah, just trying to fit this last thing in," he says through grunts, using all his might to fit a log into his bag.

Amethyst walks over to Steven, snorting when asking, "Why you bringing a log, dude? We aren't going camping, ya know," she ruffles Steven's hair, making her way to the warp pad.

"You never know!" He huffs, wiping little beads of sweat off of his forehead.

Garnet, who's been sitting on the couch this whole time, adjusts her glasses before saying, "Trust me, Steven, you won't need a log."

"Listen to Garnet," Pearl says, tapping her foot impatiently. "We don't have a lot of time to spare, so leave the log here."

"Fine, fine!" Steven pulls the log out of the bag, zipping it closed. He quickly walks over to the warp pad with Pearl and Amethyst already standing on it, waiting. A beam of sky blue light whooshes up from the pad, and the three start to hover. "Bye, Garnet! I'll miss you!" Steven waves as he gets teleported out of the house.

Garnet smiles to herself, chuckling quietly. She glances around the open room, the feeling of solitude setting in. "Good thing I'm never truly alone," she hums, getting off of the couch. "Now, what to do."

The fusion makes her way to the little storage closet underneath the stairs, prying the door open. As soon as it opens, random clutter and a few board games tumble out onto the floor. Unfazed by the sudden spill of objects, Garnet picks up a deck of UNO cards. She sits on the floor in front of the table, opening the box.

After reading the instructions, she crosses her arms. "Two players minimum, huh?" Her form begins to glow as two small figures emerge from the one, blue and red. Once fully formed, the red gem, a ruby guard, catches the blue gem, a precious sapphire, in her arms.

"You're so beautiful, I could stare at you all day," Ruby says barely a second after unfusing.

Sapphire lets out a giggle, cupping Ruby's cheek on her hand. "I know, you say so every time we unfuse."

Ruby's face turns a deeper shade of red as she stumbles on her words, "Oh— um, my bad," she chuckles awkwardly, setting Sapphire down and sitting criss cross.

The blue gem smiles softly at Ruby, sitting next to her. She pulls Ruby's face to hers, making the red gem focus on her instead of shuffling the cards. "Don't worry, I think it's really cute," she gives Ruby a kiss on the cheek.

Smoke starts to puff up from the floor. "Oh shoot!" The red gem quickly pats the soon-to-be house fire out from under her. "That was a little too close."

Sapphire lets out another giggle, covering her mouth with her hand. "You're adorable," she smiles, leaning her head on Ruby's shoulder. "Now, let's play the game, shall we?"

"Uh— yeah!" Ruby makes two piles of cards, one for Sapphire and one for her. She keeps a draw deck in the middle, and Sapphire checks the rules to make sure everything is set up correctly. Ruby flips over the starting card, smirking playfully at Sapphire when saying, "Ladies first."

The blue gem smiles softly, placing down the first card. Ruby follows after, then Sapphire, and so on.

A few rounds pass, and Sapphire announces when placing a card down, "Uno."

"Wha— how!? You keep getting Uno so fast! You've won like, every round!" Ruby huffs, crossing her arms.

"Hey, I haven't won yet, you know," Sapphire replies, trying to help lighten the red gem's mood, even if just by a little.

Ruby looks over at Sapphire, giving her an 'are you serious' look. "Cmon, Saph, you know you're gonna win. Are you using your future vision or something?"

"I... well, only sometimes."

Ruby's eyes narrow a bit, but she can't help but let out a small smile. "You're lucky I could never be mad at your cute face," she says, snuggling up to her other half. "How about we play one more round after this?"

Sapphire smiles at Ruby, returning the hug. "Yeah, okay."

It was the last round of UNO and tensions were high. The red gem was sitting on one side of the table with the blue gem sitting across from her. Card after card was put down, draws were made, and the game was soon coming to an end. Ruby glances at her deck, three cards, then glances at Sapphire's, two.

Ruby places down her third to last card, waiting for Sapphire to make her move.

Just a moment after, Sapphire sets her card on top of Ruby's, "Un—" Ruby leans in fast, almost in a lunge, placing her palms on the table to push herself further towards the blue gem. Their lips meet and Sapphire's eye widens slightly, her face turning a deeper shade of blue.

The red gem pulls away, smirking triumphantly. "Uno! I said it first, so you have to draw four."

Sapphire smiles, her face still slightly dark blue, and playfully nudges Ruby. "Alright, alright," Sapphire grabs four cards as Ruby places down her second to last one.

"Uno!"

The three other Crystal Gems warp in a few hours later, turning on the light. They're met with Garnet lying on the floor asleep, hugging herself with an UNO card in her hand.

"Was she playing alone?" Steven asks in a hushed voice, looking over at Pearl.

Pearl smiles, patting Steven's head. "She was with herself but she wasn't alone."
