___________________________________________

I woke up and i was shocked to finally find my girl sleeping in my arms. It felt like a dream come true, her legs and hands sprawled all over me. This was technically the second time she was so close to me in bed. Her head rested on my chest, and I couldn't help but smile as I looked at her. Gently, I touched her forehead to check if her fever had gone down, but it was still burning hot. Carefully, I moved her head, hands, and legs off, covered her with the blanket, and placed a pillow beside her to prevent her from falling. Then, I headed to the kitchen.

"Kya chaiye rana sa?" Jaya aunty asked.

( What do you want, Rana sa? )

I replied, "Ice, water, and a bowl.

She handed me the items just as mom noticed and asked, "Itni subah subah kya karega iska?"

( What will he do so early in the morning? )

"Mom, actually Shivnya ko bahut tez fever hai, toh unke liye le ja raha hoon," I explained.

( Mom, actually Shivnya has a high fever, so I’m taking it for her )

"Mai bhi chalti hoon tumhare saath," she said.

( I’ll come with you )

Both of us went to the room where Shivnya was still sleeping. Mom touched her forehead and said, "Abhimanyu, Shivnya ko bahut tez fever hai. Tum hame ye do aur jao freshen up ho jao."

( Abhimanyu, Shivnya has a very high fever. You give me this and go freshen up )

She took over, and I went to the bathroom.

When I came back, I saw mom diligently placing a wet towel on Shivnya's forehead. "Maa, hum kar lenge, aap jaiye," I said.

( Mom, i’ll manage; you can go )

She stood up, and I took over. "Tum Shivnya ko utha do, hum unke liye kuch khane ke liye late hain," she said as she left.

( Wake Shivnya up; I’ll bring her something to eat. )

Softly, I touched Shivnya's cheek and whispered, "Shivnya, wake up."

"Biwi uth jaiye, subah ho gayi," I said, teasingly.

( Wife, wake up; it’s morning )

"Jaan... Shivviiii."

She tried to open her eyes and, in a sleepy voice that sounded like a baby's, asked, "What time is it?

"7 AM," I replied.

"Let me sleep 5 minutes more," she mumbled, her baby voice bringing a chuckle to my face as she shut her eyes again.

"Nahi, nahi, uthiye jaldi se. Maa aapke liye khane ke liye la rahi hain, uske baad doctor uncle aayenge aur aapko check karenge," I said.
