My Departure from Home
The early morning air was crisp as I stood at the doorway, my backpack slung over my shoulder, ready to leave. My father was awake, sipping tea by the kitchen, worry evident in his eyes. My mother bustled around, checking that I had everything despite my multiple packings.
"Nakshatra, do you have enough water?" she called, her tone anxious.
"Yes, Maa, I have everything," I replied with a smile, masking my mixture of excitement and apprehension. This hike to Swargarohini was more than just a getaway; it felt significant, though I couldn't articulate why.
My father approached, his voice steady but concerned. "It's a tough climb, beta. Be careful and listen to your body."
"I know, Papa," I said softly, feeling his quiet strength.
"Call us when you can," my mother added, resting her hand on my shoulder. "We'll be waiting."
"I promise," I replied, swallowing hard. I needed this journey for myself.
With one last look at my family, I stepped out the door, the sky still dark but hinting at dawn. My heart felt heavy, but purpose drove me forward.
ARRIVED AT NAINITAL
After four hours of journeying through winding roads and lush landscapes, I finally reached Nainital. As I stepped off the train, a wave of excitement washed over me, but I quickly focused on finding my group. I scanned the bustling platform, feeling a mix of anticipation and irritation. Ten minutes passed, and frustration bubbled up inside me. "Once I find them, they have to pay for that," I mumbled under my breath, half-joking and half-serious.
Suddenly, I felt a hand pat my back, and a warm breath tickled my ear. "Welcome back, Nakshatra," came a familiar deep, playful voice that sent a shiver down my spine. I turned around to find Tanishq standing there, a broad grin on his face.
I greeted him with a warm smile, relieved to see a friendly face. "Thank you for the warm welcome! Where is everyone?"
"They're over near the escalator on Platform 3," he replied, his eyes sparkling with mischief.
