Salvatore had his huge arm loosely wrapped around Kailani's small waist as she sat perched on his lap. Her small body leaned forward, coloring in a Hello Kitty book he had picked up just for her, while he silently worked on his papers. His massive frame enveloped her like a shadow, one of his gloved hands gently tracing the outline of her waist, keeping her close. Every now and then, he'd lower his chin to nuzzle the crown of her head, his breath warm against her hair as he silently watched her focus on the colored pencils in her hand.

On his desk sat a framed picture of her-one from a few days ago, when she had been caught off guard smiling at something he had done. It was one of those rare moments where her fear had slipped away, leaving a glimmer of warmth and innocence in its place. He had captured it, needing that image of her happiness to be close, even if he'd never admit it.

She grew bored eventually, the innocent concentration she had poured into her coloring dwindling. A soft sigh escaped her lips, and she fidgeted in his lap, her hands pausing as she looked up at him with wide, needy eyes. He noticed the shift immediately and, without a word, moved the stack of papers aside. His silent, dark gaze locked on hers as his hands slid down her waist before he effortlessly lifted her off his lap and stood.

They were going shopping.

Salvatore's black Bugatti rolled through the city streets like a prowling panther. The car was sleek, an extension of his power and wealth, and its engine purred as he navigated through the luxury districts. Kailani sat beside him, her small hand resting on his arm, clinging to him as the city lights flashed past. Bodyguards followed in a convoy behind them, their presence an ever-present shadow-silent but intimidating.

Kailani's eyes lit up when the car pulled to a stop in front of a high-end mall. The doors opened, and Salvatore guided her out, his hand possessively resting on her lower back as they entered the opulent store. People stared-curiosity and envy mixed in their eyes as they saw the infamous mafia don leading his delicate little captive through the store. Kailani kept her gaze down, still overwhelmed by the attention, but Salvatore's hand never left her body, a constant reminder that she was his.

The moment they stepped inside, the air shifted. Sales clerks swarmed them, catering to their every need without question.

Salvatore's hand rested firmly on the small of Kailani's back as they strolled. Kailani's steps were soft and hesitant, her eyes wide as they scanned the endless racks of clothing, handbags, and shoes. She had never been surrounded by such extravagant items before, and the atmosphere felt heavy, suffocating almost, with the weight of wealth and opulence.

A saleswoman approached, her smile polite but her eyes sharp, undoubtedly recognizing the dangerous man beside Kailani. Without a word, the woman began showing them the most expensive collections, pulling dresses off the racks and holding them up for Kailani's inspection.

Salvatore's hand slid lower, just enough to make her flush, and she instinctively leaned into him for comfort. He remained silent, his piercing gaze never leaving her, watching her reaction to every item the saleswoman presented. Kailani's fingers traced over a soft, silk dress that shimmered with delicate embroidery. She hesitated, but Salvatore gave a subtle nod. That was all it took.

The saleswoman took the dress, neatly folding it and adding it to the growing pile. Kailani watched as more items were picked out-soft cute tops, delicate lingerie, skirts, designer heels that gleamed under the bright store lights. Salvatore's silent approval was the only indicator of what she should get, his presence guiding her as they made their way through the store.

They passed a wall of handbags, and Kailani's gaze was drawn to a pastel pink Louis Vuitton one, the kind that looked small and dainty enough to hold only essentials, with the softest golden hardware gleaming against the leather. Her hand hovered over it, but before she could even touch it, Salvatore plucked it from the shelf and handed it to the saleswoman.
