Addie

Oh my god. I shouldn't be blushing in a library like this, but looking at Hades as he picks books from the shelf while giving me a brief overview of what they are about is so hot. Especially after what happened last night. He is just so strong. So muscular. So delicious. He is exactly my type. It occurred to me last night when I was shamelessly grinding myself against his cock.

I look down at the ring on my finger, grateful it hides these dirty thoughts. Though my cheeks were a dead giveaway. I fan them, hoping they cool down before the very object stoking their fire turns around.

After getting back from the pub, the last thing that should have been on my mind was anything sexual, especially after hearing the bombshell Braccius dropped. The one where I am fated mate to not only Hades and Silas but the blue-eyed warlock as well. Go figure. As if my life couldn't get any more complicated.

But instead of lying in bed worrying about that, the fact that I wasn't next to Hades was the only thing I could think about. Like a slow-forming habit that you only realize exists until you stop that activity, being in the same room as Hades at night was comforting. Hell, being near Hades any time of the day was like wearing a safety blanket. It crept up on me, and I was hooked. I never before felt as seen or treasured as I did with him.

Coupled with the fact that it appeared he was necessary for having the best sleep of my life, I was a goner. I slept like an absolute baby last night. I woke up in his arms, my body molded to his—it was bliss.

"Addie?" Hades' gunmetal grey eyes dance with humor as he stares at me, clearly waiting for a response to something I have missed.

"Sorry, what was that?" I burn a brighter shade of tomato.

"This book. You should read it first. It's the one that explains everything about mates. Chapter twenty-three is my favorite." I take the book from him, and his smirk tells me that chapter twenty-three will probably be the one that turns me the same shade of red I am in now.

His eyes suddenly glaze over, a look I now know well. Someone is mind-linking him. The joy from moments ago fades, and I know what he will say before he says it. We have both been expecting this all morning.

"The coven has arrived. Craven has escorted them to one of my houses designated for their use while they are in Graves. We will go through and meet them for lunch."

My stomach lurches with anxiety at his words. I am nervous about seeing family members again, especially after so much time has passed. I am also dreading meeting others like me. My magical skills were next to useless. I would be a disappointment. And considering my sudden elevated Queen status, I feared I would be a laughing stock, a scar-riddled failure.

"Don't do that." Hades thumb and forefinger grip my chin lightly as he angles my face upward, watery green eyes meeting with reassuring grey ones.

"You are perfect. As you are. There is more to you than meets the eye, but even without you fully knowing yourself, it is enough. Every version of who you are now and who you will become is enough. For me. For them. And even if it isn't, that's not something you need to remedy. It's a them problem. No one will hurt you unless you let them. It's a choice you make, what you allow to impact you. Physically, no one will hurt you because they must go through me first. You protect the inside, I'll protect the outside. Deal sunflower?"
