The breath I have been holding since waking up from the transference ceremony whooshes out of my lungs as I slide down into the warmth of the water. Bubbles are filled to the brim, and the calming scent of lavender and vanilla melts away the stress that sits bone-deep. The tub is so big, it's like a jacuzzi. It was definitely made to fit Lycans, not tiny humans, but it was oh-so relaxing.

It has been a nonstop rollercoaster ride, and now it feels like the straps are starting to unbuckle, and I am about to fall out. It's overwhelming and confusing. From the fact that I am mated to three alpha males to the realization that my magical abilities are among the most powerful and appear to be coveted by a woman I thought loved me—my own flesh and blood. I couldn't even call her aunt anymore. Lillith. That is all she is.

And then there is the revelation that Silas brutally murdered Benji and Mrs Johnson. It's all too much. I can't think about it. I don't want to.

Closing my eyes, I sink, letting the water cover my face. There is just silence—beautiful nothingness under here.

When I run out of air, I finally come up, and the overwhelming scent of mint tells me I am no longer alone but calms me further. He always has that impact on me. I wonder if he climbed into the bath if the water would taste like mint tea.

"We can always try it." My eyes fly over to him, his enormous figure looming in the frame of the bathroom doorway.

I intentionally removed the ring before climbing in here. I wanted him to know what's going on inside me. He is the only person I feel comfortable enough with to be vulnerable around. But now I am rethinking that choice. Especially with him looking so delicious.

His arms are folded over his chest, and the t-shirt hugs his biceps and showcases his muscles. I already know that underneath the material, there are abs for days and two V lines that fit my pointing finger perfectly. My eyes rake further down, and the bulge in his pants makes a feeling swirl in my lower stomach. Need is its name. Desire is its surname.

"The coven has left. Jezabel and Adrial are staying with Merabel for now. It seems he was the one who led Jezabel here. Thankfully." I nod, and the relief I feel from having Lillith gone makes me sad. She is family, and yet this man cares for me more than she does.

"We will leave first thing in the morning for Altridge. The Council will not give us another extension." The Council had already allowed us another day because the ceremony took longer than expected. But that grace has been depleted, it appears.

"It's fine. The sooner we get this over with, the better." Gunmetal grey eyes rake my face, and then he nods.

"Thank you, Hades. For everything. For looking out for me while I was unconscious. For being there for me without an agenda." He shakes his head, making strands of his black hair fall forward. Damn. Now, he looks even more like a model.

"You don't need to thank me. No matter what, I will be here." We stare at each other for so long that it becomes uncomfortable, until I start squirming.

"I should leave you to it." He turns to go, but I am not ready to be alone just yet.

"You should stay," I blurt out, blushing bright red as he turns slowly to face me.
