Cat & Dog (TW)

One was a dog person, one preferred cats.

One reminded everyone of a puppy. He was playful, smart, and a little silly. He was always loyal to his favorite person.

The other made people think of a cat. shy and caring. He was shy and didn't open up to people easily. He always showed his favorite person how kind he really was.

They were walking home together after a long day of schoolwork. They took the same route every day, the familiar path seemingly engraved in their minds, their feet seemingly guiding themselves as the two boys spoke quietly about their day.

One saw the car, the other didn't.

The cat-like boy was sharp and observant. He heard the vehicle coming and stopped walking. The other boy didn't notice.

"Seungmin!" the cat-like boy cried out, rushing forward and just hoping he could do something, anything.

He reached his favorite person too late, meeting the same fate as him as the blinding headlights turned to darkness.

Later that day, after Kim Seungmin and Lee Minho were reported to be killed by the incident.

Their friends were devastated. Weekend and after school hangouts were never the same.

Jeongin and Chan stood outside in front of the school, waiting for the others to meet them. They were all supposed to be going to visit their friends together.

As the group walked, a heavy silence remained between them the whole time. Nobody could bring themselves to accept that this was in fact real, and not some horrible, strange nightmare.

They reached the place where their two friends were lying beside each other, six whole feet away from the rest of them. Who knew such a short distance could be so painfully far?

Nobody knew what to say, where to start. Everyone wanted to say everything, but at the same time, nobody wanted to say anything.

The silence was softly broken with a simple, "Hey guys, look up."

The boys all glanced at the sky, small gasps coming from each of them.

There were two clouds directly above them. The setting sun softly stained the white fluff to be pink and orange.

The important part wasn't the color of the clouds, though. The shape was the amazing thing about them.

One was shaped like a cat.

The other was in the shape of a dog.

Then, the wind blew a little stronger and the forms shifted. The two clouds became one, a cat and a dog melting into a heart, then drifting back into each of their original shapes.

Every single one of the boys had tears streaming down their faces.

That was the day they knew everything would be okay. They would never be alone, and they knew it. The six of them still had each other, and that would never change.

Their friends were also never truly gone. They would always be right there. All the six boys had to do was just look up.
