Peter arrives at the Osborn penthouse to tutor Harry and study for a biology test. He is then greeted by Norman Osborn who congratulates him on the new job at Dr. Connors’ lab which he has to go to later.

Meanwhile, Dr. Otto Octavius, Norman Osborn, Smythe and Hammerhead are doing a test on Flint Marko. Marko is scared but Hammerhead says he will be fine as this will be painless, but he lied. It’s very painful because they change his molecules into Sand. Flint Marko is a Sandman.

Flint Marko goes out to rob a bank to lure Spider-Man to him and get his attention which works. Now, it seems like Marko has the upper hand since he is now a Sandman but Spider-Man wins almost meaning the test was a success at least for OSCORP. While he was fighting the Sandman, he got some good pictures in to take to the Bugle which Jameson accepts except for one and he goes to see Ms. Betty Brant for the paycheck.

We get a scene showing how Max is doing in the hospital, he’s emitting electricity from his body after the accident. Dr. Bromwell comes in and tells him that he’s going to be okay, he just needs to adjust to his new life so they give him a suit to control his electricity. This makes Max angry and he accidentally shocks the doctor. He flees the hospital only for the police to escort him back but he goes on a rampage blacking out the city. Only one man did this to him, Dr. Connors.

At the  OSCORP lab, Max bursts in and calls out for Connors. Finding Peter, and Gwen he demands them to tell him where Connors is. Connors emerges from his office where he tries to get Max to calm down. Max however is beyond calm and, blaming the scientist for the accident, demands a cure. Connors pleads with him, saying that it will take time, but Max is impatient and starts pressing in. Peter  gets the girls out the back as he distracts Max. He lunges at Max, who electrocutes him, knocking him aside. Peter and the girls go out the back and tells them to go into a nearby shop, then as they do so, he turns back and changes to Spider-Man.
As Max closes in on Connors, Spider-Man arrives and steps in, offering Max his help. However, Max is unconvinced and shocks him. He goes on to proclaim himself "Electro," the moniker Spider-Man had used earlier to taunt him, and unleashes a barrage of electricity, inadvertently charging Dr. Connor's vial of lizard DNA
