Valere is one of the biggest powers in the known world, the other being Westeros and formerly Valyria. Their people are called the Altarans.
The Altarans are considered as Pagans and Witches by others especially in Westeros as they differ to them. The most common language in the country is Valyrian as Altaran families teach their children Valyrian first then the Common Tongue.
The people of Valere follow the Altaran Eighteen.
Wedding Ceremonies are different to those in Westeros as there is the High Priest who asks Amare the goddess of love to give her blessing on the couple. When that happens the couple each slices their hands to bind their blood to each other.
Funeral Customs can differ between different places in Valere. When a member of the royal family dies their body is placed in the caves behind the palace in Tar Valon. The heir is the one who says the Morrigan House Words before using his or her powers to send the deceased back to the shadows.
Altarans don't believe that death is final, when someone dies they believe that they are not truly dead. Just waiting for them in the shadows, looking after them, fuelling their power.
