HI BABES! this is a one-chapter halloween special of percabeth. it takes place in their second (sophomore) year of college, so they are both 19 and in new rome. it's third person past tense from annabeth's POV.
disclaimer: i own no characters in this, but all the dialogue is original and belongs to me.
another disclaimer that is just because of my personal preferences: in this story, leo was never sent to calypso's island. in fact, try to imagine calypso doesn't exist, because I personally dislike her. instead, he crash-landed directly in malta and stayed there for a few days before the rest of the seven got there. leo met a girl during his stay at the waystation. she's mortal, but she can see through the mist and she knows about greek and roman myth thingies. her name is zoe, and she's an awful lot like me. (*insert dramatic gasp here*) what a shock! what a surprise! why ever might that be?
(so actually i do own a character: zoe.)
leo and zoe aren't the main characters of this special, so don't let this detail deter you from reading it. have fun!
"Annabeth!"
Annabeth was walking back to her dorm when she heard Percy. She turned toward his voice and broke into a smile. He was running towards her across the square, and as he got to her, she dropped her bag and he picked her up, kissing her.
"Hi," he said, smiling at her as he set her down.
"Hi," she replied.
"Are you planning to do anything tonight?" Percy asked, picking up Annabeth's bag and handing it to her.
"Not really. You?"
Percy grinned. "I have an idea. Can you come over at maybe five?"
Annabeth cocked her head at him. "Sure. Why?"
"I told you, I have an idea. I can't tell you, though. It's a surprise."
"Okay," Annabeth laughed. "See you later, Seaweed Brain."
"See you, Wise Girl."
~~~
At 4:45, Annabeth started to walk out of her dorm. She didn't bring anything, just walked towards Percy's dorm, trying her best to suppress a smile. Almost every landmark she passed came with a memory. A kiss on that bench, a dance in that square, an endearingly stupid comment about that fountain.
She was so lost in her memories that she almost full-on rammed into Frank, who was turning a corner and going the same direction as her.
"Oh! Hi!" Annabeth broke into a smile. "How are you doing?"
Frank's surprised face melted into a happy one. "Good! How about you?"
Frank and Hazel had also opted to attend New Rome University. When Frank turned eighteen, he stepped down from his positions as praetor and enrolled. Hazel had done the same two years later, when she turned eighteen, and had confided in Annabeth that it was probably the best decision of her life.
Annabeth and Frank continued on their way, talking about small things, like college courses, restaurants, and their friends.
"Where are you headed to?" Frank asked her.
"Percy's," Annabeth answered. Frank looked at her funny. "What?"
"That's where I'm going," he replied.
"Oh," Annabeth replied. Then her face split into a grin. "Oh."
"What?"
"I think I know what Percy's doing," she told him.
