I rolled my window down while slightly driving up. It's a homeless man standing outside, and I wanna give him something.

Every time I do this I'm nervous because you never know what mental state somebody's in. He could lash out on me for no reason or just be triggered.

You never know.

"Excuse me" I yelled out the window catching his attention, "I have something for you"

He came over and my heart just pounded out my chest. God please don't let this man try nothing, please.

He came over and I gave him the forty dollars that was just stashed in my purse.

"It's forty dollars" I informed him

"Thank you so much sweetheart, oh my god. Everybody just drive past me all the time"

"Aw, I'm sorry" I apologized on their behalf, "I wish I had more to give you —"

"Oh no, no, no" he cut me off quickly, "This right here is more than enough , I promise. God gone bless you, you got a big heart"

"Thank you, and I wanna get you a room. Are you gonna still be right here?"

"No, you don't have to do that. It's okay"

"I don't mind, I wanna help you. Are you still gonna be here?" I asked again before he nodded, "Okay, I'll be right back"

"Okay, thank you" he spoke before walking away and I rolled my window up

I immediately started crying because that's so sad. It's not a day that goes by that I don't thank god for putting me in the position I'm in.

I'm so lucky.

I thank god for the heart I got too cause like he said, people just drive past him. It's impossible for me to drive past anybody homeless and not help.

I'm not even old enough to get a hotel, but I'll figure it out. I just need at least ten to fifteen minutes, and this man gone have a room to stay in.

I drove up to a hotel before calling Kenan. I'm on the ghetto side of Baton Rouge, like deep in the hood.

I done seen shit my parents would never let me see. I had a hair appointment, and the girl shop was around here.

It's late as fuck because I got braids and she took six hours. She started on my head late too. I don't like braids, but I needed a style that don't require too much attention.

"You gone be mad, but I need you to stay on the phone with me" I said as soon as Kenan answered the phone

"What you up to now?"

"I'm tryna get this homeless man a hotel room"

"You on the wrong side of town to be out doing shit like that. Good gesture, but princess you tripping. You see the time?"

"I know, it's going on eleven" I said while turning my car off, "I'm going straight home after this, I swear"

"You a female, you trim. Then, you thirty minutes away, it ain't like I can get to you quick"

"I'm okay, just stay on the phone" I said while getting out the car

I locked my doors while listening to him go on and on. He wants me to get back in the car and go home, but my heart won't let me.

"You don't listen" he said as I stood outside the hotel looking for somebody

I just stood there for like three minutes until a car rolled up. A man got out, and I could see a woman in the passenger seat.
