She hadn't expected him to declare that he was following her to the Islands.

"Erica."

He grinned at her stunned expression.

"I'll back you up."

Chaud leaned in closer.

"I'll get you a nice house on the Islands, and I'll have a hot dinner ready and waiting for you as soon as you get back from training with the Tenearha."

"...?"

Erica blinked, grappling with his ridiculousness.

Looking back, it had always been like this.

Chaud had followed her around since they first met.

She was the only one who hadn't tried to stop him.

There was no real reason not to be with him.

That's probably why they had developed such bad habits with each other.

"...Think about it some more."

Moving from the South to the Islands was a different story entirely.

Leaving behind a free world filled with commoners for an island full of nobles.

Why?

Erica hesitated, staring off into space.

"I'm leaving in a month. I'll give you time to think about it."

The city of Dantes spread out beneath her, the night sky ablaze with stars.

"If you change your mind by then—"

"You're really letting me go with you?"

"Dude, what did I say? Think about it."

"I've thought about it."

Atop the tall clock tower, a cool breeze swept through, and with no one else daring to climb up, it was just the two of them.

"I'll go to the Islands. With you."

Chaud smiled, his eyes shining like flowers.

He was undeniably beautiful.

"..."

Suddenly, Erica burst out laughing.

She had no idea this moment would be etched in her memory forever.

"..."

All she could think was that she wanted to stay by this proud guy's side in the future.

Shurin was a skilled healer.

For a time, she traveled the Empire, gathering herbs and experimenting with potions.

A few years ago, she settled in Dantes and became the head healer of the Southern Mercenary Guild.

Her years in Dantes had also meant years spent with Erica.

'Erica's leaving for the Islands... I want to give her a parting gift.'

She pondered what would be useful, but there wasn't much Shurin could offer.

'It has to be a top-notch potion... Otherwise, she won't need it.'

Erica was too strong to be easily harmed.

She was on a different level than the other mercenaries, who often came back battered and complaining.

The potions Shurin crafted for Erica had to be exceptional.
