I gasped, my back stinging with an unbearable, constant pain. Groaning, I felt my dry lips against the cold white snow surrounding me. Hearing screeching sounds, I looked up to a window on a tall building, this to see Zhenya and Olga peering through it, their faces a mixture of surprise and relief. As I unconsciously stood up, it hit me: I had to get out of there, right now.
One hand instinctively grasped my back, desperately trying to alleviate the pain. Stumbling through the uneven snow, I heard a loud voice call out;
"KWON TAEK-JOO!"
My eyes widened as the distant voice echoed, and I started sprinting away with all my strength. However, my legs soon gave out, and that's exactly when I slipped on the icy surface, I groaned as I began rolling downhill, the cold air biting at my warm skin. I wanted it all to end—no more. As I gained speed I felt my heart race, in that very moment I saw a cliff but I wasn't fast enough to react, that when everything suddenly went dark.
What was happening? I could feel, but I couldn't see at all. Where the hell was I now? I fell silent as I heard heavy footsteps, accompanied by a commanding voice and a softer, worried tone. Surely, these voices belonged to Zhenya and Olga. Fear gripped me; I dared not speak, terrified of being found and captured once again. I huffed, the intense pain and sharp stings of needles assaulting me because of the freezing temperatures. I realized I was definitely trapped in some kind of cave I had accidentally fallen into... but how? I could've sworn I saw a peak, not a cave in the slightest, was I actually going insane? Honestly, I would have preferred to encounter a wild beast and be torn to shreds than face this isolation.
Straining to listen, I felt as if I were in a freezing abyss with no end. Yawning, exhaustion washed over me. I quickly grabbed some snow and began scraping through it with my fingers, hoping to find an exit. But there was no light coming from any direction, which only heightened my anxiety. My feet had almost completely stopped responding due to the low temperature, yet I persisted in pushing the heavy snow aside. Then, a cold breeze brushed against my hand. I poked my head in that direction and glimpsed a vast field blanketed in snow, devoid of any life. Where the hell was I now? Moaning in pain, I stood firm in my determination; I wouldn't let it end like this.

My heart pounded softly as I trudged through the snow. In the distance, I spotted two figures; I guessed they were the siblings, so I opted to walk in the opposite direction. As I moved, I realized everything looked eerily similar, making it feel like I was walking in circles. Dizziness and fatigue set in. Just when I was about to give up, I saw a small cabin a few miles away. Hope surged within me, and I ran as fast as I could.
Upon arrival, I noticed the cabin's dilapidated condition; the wood appeared unstable, threatening to collapse at any moment. Still, it was my only chance of survival, and I had to take the risk. Gathering my courage, I pushed the door open and quickly shut it behind me to keep the cold at bay. The first thing I noticed was a small bed at the far end of the room, seemingly untouched for decades. A tightly shut window was visible to my right, while a kitchen sat to my left and a small toilet occupied the far right corner.
I rushed to the fireplace on my immediate right, scanning for anything that could spark a fire. Luckily, I found a box of matches and some old oak logs scattered on the floor. A wave of satisfaction washed over me as warmth enveloped my bare skin. I took advantage of this moment alone to carefully plan my next steps for escaping this wretched place. I had no desire to see Olga again; I truly didn't care, and I certainly didn't want to encounter that beast once again.
After a brief search of the cabin, I decided to explore the area. I grabbed a moldy piece of paper and a pencil from one of the drawers, I was going to make a small map of this place. Stepping outside, I shivered and pulled a scarf I had taken from Olga's wardrobe a while ago, I skillfully wrapped it around my chin and mouth. Sighing and I setting off.
The first thing I noticed was a small pond beside the cabin, well, now a hole with nothing but ice and a frozen surface. Approaching it, I looked at my reflection; I appeared haggard, and I felt just as worn. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and then quickly stood up to continue. That's when I spotted a small white figure lying in the cold snow. Intrigued, I approached, and my eyes widened in shock: it was a tiny puppy.
I dashed toward the poor animal, quickly scooping it up and placing it under my coat. Checking for a pulse, I was relieved to find a faint heartbeat. My eyes sparkled as I gazed at the beautiful pup. Holding it tightly to my chest, I hurried back to the cabin. Once there, I grabbed the pillow that had been placed neatly on the bed and threw it beside the fireplace, carefully laying the small dog on the soft surface. Exhaling in relief, I resolved to do everything in my power to save this innocent creature. After all, I really did love dogs.
