"As soon as I get there, we gotta go to that pizza place in the plaza!" Y/n squealed, the grin on her face widened as the thought of a fresh, oven-baked pizza crossed her mind."I know, right? It's been way too long," Isagi agreed, settling back into what looked like the wall of pillows up against his bed frame. "I can't believe you're not here yet~" He sighed, the smallest whine slipping past his lips as he ran a hand through his thick, black hair.
"I know~" Y/n groaned, rolling her eyes before adjusting herself on her bed. Y/n sat cross-legged, the soft glow of her phone illuminating her face. The light in the room was dim, casting shadows across the posters on her wall and the half-packed suitcase sitting by the closet.
"But I'll be there tomorrow," She sighed in content, her best friend mirroring her action before putting his arm behind his head. "So try to hold on without me for a little longer..." She teased, a warm feeling rushing through her body as she heard Isagi's soft chuckle at the other end of the line.
Y/n and Isagi had been best friends since the moment they were in diapers. Their moms had been inseparable since childhood, growing up as best friends and staying close through every stage of life. When they both started their own families, it was only natural for their children to do the same.
"So," Isagi said, leaning closer to the screen with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "What'd you get me for Christmas?"
"I bet you'd like to know..." Y/n smirked, biting her lip to hold back a laugh. "Who said I even got you anything?"
"I know you got me something, Y/n." Isagi grinned, shaking his head in amusement. "Just give me one hint and I'll get off your back." He put one of his hands up in surrender.
"Maybe I did get you a gift, maybe I didn't," Y/n rolled over to lay on her stomach. "But I'm not telling you," She shot back, her smile widening. "You'll just have to wait and see."
"Oh come on~" Isagi complained. "Just one hint?"
Before Y/n could respond, the door to her room swung open, revealing her older sister Ciara who looked unimpressed.
"Seriously, Y/n? You're just lying here talking on the phone when we leave first thing tomorrow?" Ciara asked, glancing at the half-packed suitcase that still sat on the floor.
Oh shit...
Y/n's eyes widened and her lips parted as she let an awkward chuckle escape her lips. She turned her head toward the door, her laughter dying down. "I'm ready... mostly."
"Uh-huh. Sure you are." Ciara sighed, stepping into the room with her arms crossed. "You know you don't have to convince me, right?" She scoffed, to which Y/n mumbled something inaudible, rolling her eyes.
It was the night before Y/n and her sister were set to leave for their annual trip. This year was a bit more exciting for Y/n than usual as it'd be her first time flying alone without her parents. Their parents wouldn't join them, as their mom had gone ahead to prepare for their arrival, and their dad had to finish some business before coming later.
Her older sister was unbothered, as she had flown without parental guidance countless times before, but Y/n still couldn't shake the excitement she felt in her lower stomach.
"Hey Ciara..." Isagi's voice called through the phone, making Ciara's expression soften.
"Hey, Yoichi. Already causing trouble all the from over there, I see?" She teased as she walked over to Y/n's bed, playfully nudging her younger sister before taking a seat.
