Y/n stood on the front porch of Isagi's house, staring at the familiar wooden door.
Normally, she would have just let herself in—her family had a spare key, and over the years, it had practically become a second home to her. The door was usually left unlocked anyway.
But Y/n refrained herself from doing so. She hadn't seen Isagi in months, and she didn't want him to see her when she came in unannounced.
The sound of the bell echoed inside, and Y/n immediately heard shuffling on the other side of the door. Her heart raced and she shifted her weight from foot to foot, excitement bubbling in her lower stomach as she imagined the look on Isagi's face.
The door opened and there he was— standing in the doorway, his eyes widening in surprise the moment they landed on her.
"Y/n—" Isagi started, his voice breathless, like he couldn't quite believe she was there.
He knew her plane had landed today, and knowing Y/n, she wouldn't waste time coming over to see him. She hadn't sent him a text, or given him a call, but he knew he'd see her sooner or later.
Yet he couldn't form a normal sentence at the sight of Y/n— his best friend who he hadn't seen in so long, standing on his porch.
Before Isagi could say anything else, Y/n cut him off by wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him into a tight hug.
Her face was pressed against the crook of his shoulder, the familiar warmth of being close to him giving her a sense of calmness.
Isagi froze, clearly caught off guard, his hand still gripping the door handle.
It took him a moment to process the fact that Y/n was here, hugging him.
After a few seconds he realized what was going on, his free arm slipping around her waist, and he took a step back into the hallway, pulling her along with him as he gently closed the door behind her, all without breaking their embrace.
For a while, they just stood there like that, wrapped in each other's arms.
Y/n could feel the Isagi's chest rising and falling as he breathed, the comfort of having him so close again making her heart swell.
She had missed him so much...
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Y/n pulled back, a wide grin lighting up her face as she tilted her head to look up at him.
Isagi smiled back, though there was still a look of disbelief in his eyes, like he was trying to make sense of how much had changed in the months they had been apart.
As Y/n took him in, her mind started to process those changes too, her eyebrows furrowing slightly.
Did he grow taller?
