The library is quiet, the soft hum of air conditioning the only sound as you and Namjoon walk between the tall shelves of books. The scent of paper and ink fills the air, and the muted colors of book spines in every shade line the walls, promising endless stories.
You both have your bags slung over your shoulders, ready for a study session, but as usual, it doesn't take long for the books to distract you. You glance at your brother, who's already wandered over to the mystery section, flipping through a worn paperback.
"Found anything yet?" you ask, joining him and glancing at the book in his hand.
"Just checking out the back cover. It's one of those old-school detective stories," Namjoon replies, reading the blurb aloud in an exaggerated voice. "Hardboiled detective Jack Spade is back on the case, cracking skulls and solving crimes..." He looks at you with a smirk. "Really? Cracking skulls?"
You chuckle, shaking your head as you pull a random book from the shelf. "Oh, this one looks good—How to Communicate with Cows."
The two of you burst into laughter, his voice just above a whisper, earning a quick shush from the nearby librarian. You quickly stifle your giggles, but the humor of the moment lingers, adding a lightness to the quiet atmosphere. You both move toward the reading area, arms now filled with a mix of novels, magazines, and textbooks. Settling into the plush chairs by the window, you spread out your finds.
You crack open a novel while your Namjoon flips through a magazine, but before long, he nudges your arm, holding up a page with a bizarre picture on it—something ridiculous, like a weird piece of art or a random celebrity outfit.
"Can you believe this?" he whispers, eyes wide with exaggerated disbelief.
You stifle a laugh, shaking your head. "You're impossible."
Minutes turn into an hour, and the two of you slowly shift back to focusing on studying. But there's something about the library's calm, the quiet murmur of others and the rustle of pages turning, that makes even studying feel less like a chore. Every now and then, you exchange a quick note or show each other something interesting you found in your books.
Eventually, when the clock strikes closing time, you both reluctantly gather your things, already talking about the books you want to borrow next time. As you walk out into the evening air, you feel a sense of peace, knowing that even something as simple as a library visit becomes a memory when shared with your brother,Namjoon.
"Next time, we're definitely reading How to Communicate with Cows," you joke.
Namjoon grins. "Deal. I'm ready for some life-changing cow conversations."
And with that, you walk home together, the weight of the day eased by shared laughter and the comfort of being surrounded by books.
