His face showed no emotion as he kept his head down. He wore a hood above his head as he stood in front of the whole class. He would raise his head a few times and the class would get a glimpse of his brown eyes that were covered with his hair.
That's how I would describe Lucas when we first saw him. That was about a year before he disappeared. Lucas instantly became my best friend and I was shocked when I heard the news that he was gone. No one knew where he was, or if he was still alive. I remember the long hours we spent in the library, laughing at the librarian who had a funny accent as we tried to keep our voices low. Lucas was a natural comedian even though he was a bit of an introvert. There was a particular book he would read, it was called "The Mind's Eye". He would always borrow it from the library even though he had already read it a thousand times. I wasn't really interested in that book, but since he left, I took interest in it. So I decided to borrow the book before I headed home from school.

"Alice!!! Wake up."

I seemed to have nodded off while reading the book. "That sounded like Lucas" I thought to myself. "It must have been a dream". I rubbed my eyes, closed the book, and got dressed. As I was making myself a cup of coffee, I noticed something under my door. It was a small piece of paper with someone's phone number on it. So I tried to call the number. It kept ringing but no one answered. Suddenly the ringing stopped and finally, someone was on the other line.
Unknown : "Alice, I'm glad you called"

"I called as soon as I got the note. How do you know my name?"

Unknown: "Listen carefully, I don't have much time. Meet me in the library after it closes. Come alone."

"Who is this"?

"It's Lucas"...
