"Lovely to sit between comfort and chaos." - Lizzy McAlpine, Ceilings

I grinned as I walked out to Paul's blue truck, he's been picking me up for a week now. Every time there would be a surprise waiting for me. Yesterday he had a Coke and sour patch kids waiting in the passenger seat. How he even knew those were my favorite, I have no idea.
"Hey honey." He said, his voice smooth and deep. The pet names seemed to be an everyday routine but I didn't mind. I had to keep reminding him we were strictly friends. He likes to always have a part of his body touching mine.
"Paul!" I said enthusiastically, almost tripping on my feet as I sped up to reach him sooner. As soon as I got in arms reach of him he grabbed my waist bringing me into him. My feet no longer touched the gravel of the road and were now dangling in the air. My arms were wound tight around his neck as I buried my cold nose into the crook of it. He smelt like sandle wood and aftershave, my new favorite scent.
"There's my girl." He said softly holding me tightly. I giggled into his neck and slightly began to kick my legs letting him know it was time to put me down.
He let out a sigh before putting my feet onto the ground again. He looked me up and down before smirking. I don't know why he always did that, especially today. I wasn't wearing anything special. I looked down at my light pink dress and held out the sides of it slightly. I couldn't help but tilt my head in confusion.
"Come on before you get a cold." Paul said softly opening the passenger side door. He put his hand slightly close to my behind and I felt my cheeks burn. That is definitely not friendly. I climbed into the truck and looked at the console. A Milky Way and a water. Aw, he knows I can't eat chocolate without having water to drink. Wait.
"How do you know so much about the things I like?" I asked as Paul turned the heater on and turned them both towards me. I fiddled with the water bottle lid as I tried to screw it off.
"I have my ways." He said chuckling as he took the water bottle gently from my hands. He quickly twisted the lid off, no fair. I wish I was that strong.
The drive was filled with small talk. Paul would ask me about work and how my day was everyday. He would then listen intently, adding in his two sense every now and then. Conversation was easy with Paul. I could talk to him everyday about anything. I enjoyed that.
I felt his warm hand draw shapes on my knee as I munched on my chocolate. I groaned seeing my house come into view. This was the only time I got to see Paul and it was almost the weekend, I didn't work on weekends. I felt a pout come to my lips.
"Don't be sad, I'll come see you when I can. Maybe I'll come surprise you." He said smiling at me. I couldn't help but smile back at him, his smile was infectious.
It seemed like everyone was busy. Charlie was chasing after the wolves, which Bella told him about previous to knowing they were actually boys. And the wolves were busy hunting a vampire that wouldn't go away. I tried asking Paul about the vampire but he always told me I didn't have to worry about her. Most nights I would curl up on the couch and order a pizza. That was my life.
"Promise." I said softly trying to contain the frown on my face. I held out my pinkie to him waiting patiently.
"I promise baby." He said before interlocking our fingers. I grinned leaning over the console and pressing a soft kiss to his cheek.
"You should do that more often." He said with a smile as he looked at me. I shrugged as he got out and opened the passenger side door, helping me out again.
