"Delilah I can promise you that by the time we get through, the world will never ever be the same, and you're to blame." - Plain White T's, Hey There Delilah

—————

I giggled as I casted my line out into the river again. The sun was burning my already tan face and my golden hair was pulled into pigtails. Charlie stood behind me holding my small hands around the base of the fishing pole. The smell of lilacs floated through the air, it was spring time. Charlie still made me wear my big polka dot rain boots, he fussed about puddles and how my toes would freeze.

"Omg!" I squealed reeling in the fish that I caught. With the help of Charlie of course. It thrashed around under the water making droplets hit my cheeks and hands.

"You did it Lilah!" He said excitedly running off to grab the net to help bring it in.

"Lilah, be careful with it okay." He reminded me running up behind me and reaching the net out towards the fish.

"Lilah!"

"Lilah, breathe for me baby." Darkness. That's all I could see. I could hear the waves crashing onto the beach. I could smell the salt in the air and I could feel the grainy sand under neath my fingertips.

"Please baby, I just got you back. I can't lose you." Paul, I could recognize his voice anywhere. I loved his voice. I could feel pressure on my chest and hear him breathing to the rhythm of CPR. There was a stinging in my throat and soon that sting exploded into a fit of coughs. Water shot out of my mouth landing on my chest. I began to slowly peel my eyes open. It was bright, even with the clouds covering the sun it was blinding. Paul was above me. His beautiful brown eyes were red rimmed and his jaw was clenched tightly.

"I thought I lost you." He said softly, his voice cracking as he wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me into his lap.

"Don't ever do something that fucking stupid again. Do you hear me?" He scolded me as if I were a child. I understood though, I must've really scared him.

"I'm sorry." I said softly resting my pounding head on his hard chest. I felt him press his lips to the crown of my head.

"Omg, Delilah!" Bella, I had been so lost in my own trance I forgot Bella had jumped too. I brought my head away from Paul's warm chest and turned to see Bella sitting propped up on the sand, Jake was next to her supporting her back.

"Stay the fuck away from her." Paul growled at Bella as she attempted to get up. Jake sent him a glare but Paul didn't seem to care.

"Get the girls home, I'm going to go help out at Harry's." Another voice said from the tree line. I looked over seeing Sam. Harry's? What happened at Harry's? I turned and looked up at Paul. He was still glaring at anything and everything.

"What happened to Harry?" I asked softly, making him gaze down at me. His eyes immediately softened.

"Harry had a heart attack." He said brushing a lock of blonde hair out of my face.

"Will he be okay?" I asked quickly my voice raising with worry. I knew Charlie and Harry were close, I knew Charlie must've been heartbroken.

"He's gone hun." Paul said rubbing soothing circles on my back. I felt tears rush to my eyes.

"My dad?" I said my voice breaking as I let out a sniffle.

"Don't cry baby, your dad's over there right now. Everyone's over there, he'll be okay." Paul said softly whipping my tears away as quickly as they fell.
