After yesterday's... sudden events, you finally managed to persuade Velvet and Veneer that your safety at the music label wouldn't be a problem—at least for now. You couldn't exactly guarantee "safe" in an environment like that. It was a fine line, especially with Ash and other questionable people lurking around. Your best bet? Stay as far from them as possible.

Luckily for the twins, Veneer was able to afford another night at the motel, so they were set for now. You could breathe for a moment, but not without keeping in mind the disguises. You couldn't forget the disguises. The last thing you needed was to draw more attention to yourself than you already had.

Not to mention the constant spammed texts in your messages (Velvet using Veneer's phone since she lost hers) just to make sure the twins knew you were doing fine. The constant buzzing was somehow both comforting and maddening.

"Y/N!" Millie's bright voice broke through the noisy cafeteria, cutting into your much-needed moment of peace. You sipped your coffee, trying to focus on the warmth before Millie slid into the seat next to you like a force of nature, her energy already too high for the time of day. "Grabbing some fuel for the day?"

You nodded, "Something like that. You?"

"Psh, work got me running all over the place! But hey, don't you usually stay in the office?"

"Yeah, usually. But things have been... calm lately."

Millie raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised. "Wait, you haven't heard?"

Heard? What now? You blinked, confused. "Heard what?"

"Ciara and Jay are shooting a huge music video for their wedding celebration! Mount Rageous is pulling out all the stops." Millie waved her hands dramatically as if it was the most exciting news in the world. "I mean, you work with Ciara, right? I thought you'd be in the loop!"

You blinked, feeling slightly out of touch. "I've been dealing with some... personal stuff."

Her features eased instantly, her voice dropping a notch. "Oh, yeah. Ash? He's not giving you any more grief, is he?"

Your fingers tightened around your cup slightly. "Not recently." That was half-true. You didn't want to drag her into that mess, not now. Not here.

"Good, 'cause honestly, girl, you do not need that kind of energy in your life," she said with her typical dramatic flair.

After a few more playful exchanges, the conversation began to drift, but your mind was still circling back to one thing. A question that had been gnawing at you for days. You hesitated before finally asking, "Hey, Millie... how's Felix?"

Her usual vivacious energy seemed to falter, "Felix? He's... fine, I guess."

"Just fine?"

"Yeah."

Her change of tone seemed out of place. Millie never shied away from talking about anything. But here she was, fidgeting with the strap of her bag, uncharacteristically quiet. After a moment, she pulled out a small, worn photo album, sliding it across the table to you without a word.
